Title: Destroyer of Worlds

Rating: PG/K+

Summary: Drabble based on the Doctor's destruction of the Rachnos children in The Runaway Bride. I always thought there was more going on to that scene that had been building up the entire episode. Consider it an angsty tribute to Rose.

Word Count: 200

Disclaimer: Despite my fantasies, I own neither the Doctor nor the TARDIS.

What remains but destruction?

Fire and water. Flame and flood. Staring down at an open wound and drowning shrieks of agony. No more. Wash it all away. What does it matter so long as she's not here, trapped in an unreachable world? What use is power, what good a spare heart? Drown it. Don't stop.

Cold water on raw, boiling skin. Purifying, cleansing. Punishing. The Rachnos screams, the children perish. You are their torturer, their judgmental God.

The Destroyer of Worlds.

So much loss. So much evil. So much pain. Never again. Wash it away.

Pour it all down the drain, the anguish, the regret. You saved her but still she's gone. Denying yourself, destroyer of your soul, too fierce to contain. How you wish to dive, or let the waters rise up to meet you in an enveloping, eternal embrace. To feel loved again by anything. You would give it over gladly.

"Doctor!"

A voice, familiar but new. Foreign but strong.

"You can stop now!"

Stop, what does it mean? To pull yourself back from the brink for the sake of another. Do it for her.

Rose.

Rescue the bride with the broken heart.

It's what she would want.
