...first attempt at a fanfic! Sorry for whatever is bad. I don't own anything but my brain.
"What in the world was that? Don't tell me some inexperienced kid can possibly be that strong!" I said, words cracking with exasperation.
It was my four against his one; it should have been child's play. Literally. The red clothed boy, a mere inexperienced teen, was all that stood between me and the world, yet the world eluded my grasp. The glistening walls of the surrounding cave, perpetually damp from the surrounding waterfall, formed a cage of despair to which I had been cast 3 long years ago.
…This green (oddly celery reminiscent) being in front of me was the lock keeping me imprisoned in my cage. My team was waiting for me outside, and my immediate tools were but pieces of straw trying to pick this lock of green vegetation. Like vegetation, it was as if it fed on the dampness of the walls and pushed me further into despair.
"Energy ball, once more Celebi!", shouted the boy delightedly. His figure stretched out toward me, an accusatory finger unknowing of the despair and sorrow of hopelessness. Of crushed hope. My last pokemon, Kangaskhan, fell.
"What in the world are you…?" I said, stumbling for support onto a nearby stalagmite as I recalled Kangaskhan to its pokeball. "How is this even possible…? The past three years, have they all been a waste? How can a kid like you manage to destroy my dream again? The precious dream of Team Rocket has become little more than an illusion…" Nothing made sense anymore, how, how could this happen? There were no answers that made sense! How could I have spent all this time training only to seem weaker, only to lose worse to an even younger child? I pounded the wall with my fist. Once a beacon of hope and pride, the garbled sounds of my radio were now distant to my ears. I stumbled outside and contemplated jumping into the water, a broken failure.
"Well, time to travel back to my own time then! Celebi, go!" shouted the boy.
I turned around just in time to see a brilliant flash of light as the teen disappeared. A rapidly diminishing hole was all that remained.
"…Hey! Where has Giovanni gone? …I wonder if he is listening to our broadcast…" sounded my radio from the corner of the cave. A droplet of water from the calcified ceiling plopped onto my face. I don't know where I am going to go or what path I will take. All of my most cautious plans ended up derailing at the strangest possible places. I grimaced and whispered "…Sorry guys, I'm not much use to you as I am now anyways… I'd promise that I would return, but who knows…"
I am Giovanni, true Leader of Viridian Gym and Team Rocket. Giovanni, broken and crushed, and out for revenge. Wiping the slightly salty water from my face I stood up, and walked confidently into the portal.
Seriously, How did Giovanni not notice in the games that Gold randomly appeared and disappeared, and talked about time travel? Sorry if the story so far requires too much prior knowledge to be coherent, but I promise the next chapters will flesh everything out. In short, this starts at the Celebi/Giovanni battle event nintendo released a while ago.
