Composition Of You

By Vera Priscaleth

!!!WARNING!!!
THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR PRINCESS DIARIES FIVE, 'GIVE ME FIVE'/'PRETTY IN PINK'. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED AT ALL FOR THAT BOOK, DO NOT READ THIS FIC. Thank you & after this you cannot say I didn't warn you.

A/N: Yeah, I got to read the Princess Diaries: Give me Five last weekend. It rocked my socks, so start saving up so you can buy it when it hits the stores. This piece doesn't really offer much to the story. It's just a little insight to Boris' mind. Sort of. I might write a companion piece. Not of Lily, though. (It might seem a little confusing if you've not read the fifth book, OBVIOUSLY. That's why I don't recommend reading this before having read the book.)

When Boris felt lonely, he would compose. And when he'd compose, he wouldn't compose for himself or for major audiences; he'd compose for Lilly. For Lilly was the thing that truly inspired him to compose. He didn't wish to become a composer. Boris knew he wasn't remarkable at writing music, but it was his only way to express himself. He heard music in his head when he was with her. Melodies he had never played before. So he wrote them down and played them for her.

She seemed happy, most of the time.

Perhaps he just wasn't enough anymore.
He loved her. He always knew he had. She was a key element to his music, his life, his passion. He adored her. So now he wondered, if that is what drove her away? His commitment to her. She did want to be free. Run wild. His love towards her might've become an obsticle in her life.

Lilly did get what she was after. Each and every time. Boris knew that better than anyone.

Boris was sitting in front of the computer, staring blankly at the screen. He was in the middle of writing Michael an e-mail, when he erased it and began writing one for Lilly. No words would come out. There was so much to ask, but so little to say. So he pressed delete. His finger kept hitting that one button until all the words that sounded so honest, yet they stumbled upon each other and seemed close to idiotic.
A minute later, his Josh Bell screen saver started rolling.

He knew this might lead him to horrible despair, but he didn't really care. He had black and white photographs of Lilly and him together, taped onto his monitor. She smiled at him from the photograph and he heard the music in his ears. It just didn't make him happy anymore.

Thank you for reading. This is my first TPD fic, so I'd appreciate a review of some sort. Feel free to give me criticism. Just don't flame. Kind of goes without saying, right?
NOTE! For some reason, we in Europe get the books earlier than in the States. The UK title of the 5th book is indeed 'Give Me Five'.
