Title: For Luck

Disclaimer: I do not own any part of NCIS LA

Summary: Just a cute little drabble I thought would fit well in the season 6 premiere.

For Luck

Once again they are about to embark on a mission where it is very likely that one, or all, of them won't come home. Kensi can't believe they are in this situation again so soon after everyone put their lives on the line to come save her. As she watches Deeks check the instruments on the helicopter she knows that if it all ends today she doesn't want to leave things the way they are between her and Deeks. She needs him to know how she really feels.

"Deeks," she says to gain his attention. As soon as he turns toward her she swiftly places a hand on his cheek and practically dives in for a passionate kiss. He's been shocked by her behavior all day, but this takes the cake. A mere second is all it takes for him to recover and he is kissing her back with equal passion.

"What is that for?" he asks. Repeating a question he used earlier in the day is about as complex a thought as he can muster after the kiss they just shared.

"For luck," Kensi repeats her answer from earlier realizing she doesn't have the time now to say everything she feels. She hopes the kiss conveyed just how much he means to her.

"I like this kind of luck." The soft teasing in his voice, depth of emotion in his eyes, and the fact that he's leaning in for another kiss show her he got the message. His kiss is gentle yet hungry. He really hopes they don't die trying to rescue Sam and Callen. He really wants more time to do this.

Kensi pulls back, her eyes asking for an explanation for why he kissed her just now after he's been so skittish for the last month.

"What?" he asks innocently. "We're going to need a lot of luck."

He refocuses on the mission checking the instruments again and placing his hand on the throttle. It wasn't exactly the answer she was looking for, but it will have to be enough for now. She places her hand over his in a gesture that says they are in this together. They share a nervous, yet hopeful, look that has as much to do with their personal feelings toward each other as it has to do with the current predicament the whole team is in.
