This is basically my dramatization of Alma Karma's death, focusing on the mindset of both Alma and
Yuu and elaborating on their thoughts.

...
Warmth. Enthusiasm. Sympathy. Patience. Passion.
That was what Alma was.
Kanda knew that. Yuu knew that. He had always known Alma for his ability to laugh when itseemed impossible. But if that were the case, then why was Alma fighting with so much hate in hiseyes? And if what he was feeling was truly hate, then why wasn't he able to stop the tears that blindedhim so inconveniently? Nothing made sense, so Yuu stopped trying to understand it.
Instead, he fixed his mind on Alma's blood.
Still, Alma's tears fell evenly with his blood with an emotion that he didn't quite understandeither. He couldn't deny how handsome Yuu had become over the years, and he couldn't deny that hislove remained. From a past life, his love remained.
Alma himself had grown quite nicely, hadn't he? The details of an akuma plagued his body andmade it inhuman, but yet, his eyes still had the shine in them that Yuu remembered from nine years didn't know of Alma's identity, not at the time, but was it possible that he was still in love, too?
Then if they were in love, then why were they still fighting?
Allen was right. For once, that beansprout knew what he was talking about. Yuu hadn't was too focused on his opponent. He decided to dwell on the blood and not the tears. Even as his Mugen drained his life away, he refused to listen.
Two lovers were close to experiencing death for the second time.
But Alma was already dead. As an akuma, he was already dead. Without Yuu, he was alreadydead. He breathed and bled and that blood was warm, but he didn't feel alive. He didn't have much else to lose, since he had already lost it. The only thing he didn't want to lose was Yuu, who was his only reason to remain half alive. So seeing Yuu on the ground, his pale flesh cracked and brittle, was so painful that he could hardly perceive it.
Allen knew best. Allen knew of Alma's love and he knew that Yuu would forgive him if the truthwas told. But Alma had to be the one to say when he did, he was too far gone. Alma Karma died in Yuu Kanda's arms.
Yuu, who had a dignity in his eyes that could never be mirrored.
Yuu, who was too proud to allow himself to die.
Yuu, who hated people naive enough to be ruled by emotion.
That same Yuu cried as he held his lover for the last time, feeling the heat leave his body. Feeling as his heart slowed and stopped, his blood no longer draining. Holding Alma began to remind him of holdinga stone. Cold, stiff and unresponsive.
And Alma was no longer warmth. No longer enthusiasm. No longer sympathy, patience, passion.
Alma was dead.
...
...
...I love both Yuu and Alma, so when Alma died, I couldn't decide wheither to cry or pass out. I ended up doing neither, since I was too busy wrapping my head around Alma's last words:
"I love you, Yuu."
And since I utterly missed Alma's birthday on December 6th, I felt somewhat obligated to write somethingfor him. There aren't nearly enough fanfiction on here about him. 3 He's simply awesome. So kind. I really wish that he and Yuu were able to live together for once, instead of growing with so much misunderstanding between them.
Anyway. I feel that this is not my best work. I can't quite pinpoint what it is that I dislike about it so much, but it's probably something stupid like my paragraphs not being long enough. I could have made them a little longer, I suppose. And so, reviews are greatly appreciated wheither it's support or criticisim.
