Their relationship had always been messy, no doubt about that. But nothing had prepared them for the storm of emotions that lay ahead. They had fired rounds of hurtful words back and forth before, but it never got to this point where one of them gave up the fight.

Kyo and Uo were two hot-tempered individuals by nature. The both of them knew at the back of their minds; that having a relationship with the other would be difficult, but they managed to convince themselves that things would work out alright in the end. But right now, standing on the battlefield alone with bloodied wounds all over his body, Kyo's not so sure about it anymore. Usually the person who had the last say in any of their arguments was Uo, but today it seemed as though she had taken far too many blows to even stand up. He felt a twinge of guilt as he suddenly noticed the stream of tears pouring down her face.

Even though his heart is screaming at him to apologise and comfort her, his pride tells him otherwise. Just like a fool, he followed his pride and left her behind to pick up the shattered pieces of her own self. Although he wanted to turn around and pull her into the safety of his arms, he forced himself to resist the urge and just get the hell out of here. He's just about to turn the handle on the door and walk out when he hears Uo's voice in the background.

''So you're just going to leave eh? Are you just going to forget everything we ever had, the memories we shared even this freaking apartment we're both standing in right now? How many times have you walked out of someone's life like this Kyo? After hurting them so badly they couldn't even stand because everything hurts so much. Did you master taught you this too? To abandon the ones you love once things got tough, like a coward?''

The way the last word rolled off her tongue resonated loudly in Kyo's ears. It immediately brought him back to when he was younger when everyone around him taunted him, calling him coward over and over again until it was permanently etched into his brain. He stops in his tracks and for a moment, he thinks he's about to shed tears of his own but he manages to hold his composure together. He turns around and is greeted by the sight of Uo trying to pull herself off the hardwood floor. Arguments between them tend to get violent most of the time since the both of them used their fists when things don't go their way. As much as he wants to rush over to her side and help her, the leftover anger is far from gone.
