A/N: just a little thought I had and wanted to share. R&R. Set after the Battle of Hogwarts.

To Forget

It was then that Draco decided to fight. To honour his country. To be one of them. To forget.

Narcissa was crying silently into her handkerchief when Draco picked up his duffel bag. His wand lay at the bottom, even though he wouldn't need to use it. Magic was something he had vowed not to touch for a while at least.

Lucius didn't understand why, but he granted his wish, with a stiff handshake, and a mutter of good luck. Lucius then wrapped his arm around Narcissa comforting her as Draco tore his gaze of his family to see her waiting for him. Of course, he was glad she came, even though it would be hard to say goodbye.

Draco turned to Ginny who hovered nearby waiting, wringing her hands and looking hopeless. He just wanted to hold her one last time.

Harry had a strange look on his face, he greeted him next. "Good luck mate, all the best. Come back alright?" Harry shook hands and patted his shoulder, giving him a brief hug. Draco nodded, he would be back someday. At least he hoped to be. He thought he was done fighting after everything that happened, but there was more to do; he hadn't done enough; he needed to prove it to himself that he could be there for others. For muggles who were still fighting. Fighting for their country; their honour; a cause.

Draco turned to Ginny who couldn't say goodbye just yet. She launched herself into his arms, tears soaking his shirt, but she seemed to be in control of them. "I've got to go Ginny. You knew it was going to be hard." He pressed kissing the top of her head, softly.

"Not this hard!" Ginny said burying her head against his collar and wishing it wasn't now, wishing that she had more time... "I only just got you back."

"You'll have me forever. I love you Ginny Weasley, always will."

"I'll love you." Ginny gasped as Draco captured her lips with his, wrapping his arms around her and leaving her with a kiss she'll remember for years to come. He held her for the longest time, his lips touched her hair and his arms squeezed her softly, until the boat called for the last soldiers to board and he had to let go.

Of everything.

A/N: What did you think? Possibly only a one shot. Initially thought this could be the end of Blood Brothers, but I had sort of already done the ending for blood brothers, so decided to post it here instead. Please review.
