Esme to Carlisle

My time had come
With the flickering and fading of my only light

I had lost the only thing that mattered
There was nothing left for me here
Nothing but the rocky cliff I now faced

Through tear stricken eyes
I walked towards it
Soon it will all be over
Not even a memory
His death would weigh on me no more

I closed my eyes
Let the cold overwhelm me
As I fell forward
I saw nothing but his face
Cold and empty with death
Forever engrained on in my closed eyes

The ground finally came
A long awaited moment
And I cried out in anguish
Not for the pain
But because I still was
The memory was still there
And all of the pain

I watched the swirl of faces as I begged to die
Let me go!
They looked on in disgust
At what I had done
All that I had given up on

But then you appeared
The newfound light in my never-ending darkness

Was this it?
Could death have finally come for me?
Yours was the face of an angel
Of the sun in the sky
Come to burn me?
Confusion overtook me

But within that searing pain of torture
I found my redemption
You were my northern star
My newfound light
You gave me life
When I had sought death
You pulled me from darkness
and gave me something to live for
