If you have already seen this story, I suggest rereading. You don't have to, I've just edited it since it was originally posted. Because I realized it was crap. Now that that is over, on with the story.

Fighting, fighting, fighting. That's all they ever did. Weather it was with villains or each other, the titans never seemed to give it a rest, at least from Robin's point of view. He'd been trying to get the team to work together on something when the alarm had gone off.

Beast Boy had been bugging Raven, to the point that several glasses had shattered. Starfire had asked questions every two words, and though she was cute when she said anything, the constant interruptions were starting to grate on Robin's nerves. Cyborg's mechanical leg kept sticking. When he walked, it looked like he couldn't use his knee and he ended up stomping though the flat.

All he had wanted to do was work on a team attack. They'd only been together for a month. One month. Star had crash landed in the middle of Kings Street and all hell broke loose. Suddenly four separate heroes are coming out of the woodwork and everyone's fighting. After a kiss was planted on Robin by Starfire and Raven concentrated on taking off the alien's handcuffs, the five had gotten acquainted.

The green boy, who looked like he'd been on his own for a while, had thought the idea of a team was great. They could work well together after some practice; that was the argument anyway. The half-robot had loved the idea along with the red headed alien. The girl under the hood had been reluctant to even stand near the others.

The decision was left to Robin, the "hero", protégé to the Batman. Honestly, he hadn't wanted to start a team. Or deal with newbies. Or listen to anyone else for a long time. He had come to Jump City to start over. This was going to be his city.

But he couldn't just let four hero-wannabe's run amuck in the streets. They needed to be acclimated into the normal world and the hero world. Besides, from what he'd seen, none of them had completely mastered their powers. That made them even more dangerous without supervision.

So here he was, almost four weeks later, listening to the alarm and looking through the red flashing lights. His computer screen read out the important information before shutting off the alarm.

Cinderblock, a villain who had been aggravating the local police for more months then the team had been in town, was making a mess of the chemical dump.

"Teen Titans! Cinder Block at the chemical dump. Go!" Robin was quick to give the sparse instructions.

He pushed open a window large enough to jump through. Looking at the adjacent buildings, he calculated the approximate distance and wind change. Grappling gun in hand, he took the lead and jumped.

Raven followed without a word, black aura encompassing her. Before anymore teammates could disappear, Cyborg turned to Starfire, "Mind giving me a lift, little lady?"

She beamed at being useful and held out her hand. "I would be happy to Friend Cyborg!"

They took off next, leaving Beast Boy. He ran to the window in hopes of catching up quickly. He glanced at his watch and was dismayed at the time. Quickly he pulled a packet from his pocket, and shook out two small pills. Swallowing them, he looked to the window. Robin was swinging from building to building using his grappling gun, making good time.

"Who's he think he is, Spiderman?" With that parting thought, he transformed and followed behind Starfire to the best of his abilities.

The five appeared just as Cinderblock was exiting with two large glowing containers slung over his shoulder. He looked at the motley crew before him with a dumb expression. In the distance, sirens were coming closer.

Robin pulled out his collapsible staff and took a fighting stance. Beast Boy shifted back and rolled into a crouch as he hit the pavement. A thunk filled their ears as Cyborg landed, arm turning into a cannon. Starfire's eyes glowed green. A dark shadow appeared near the entrance of the dump.

"Cinderblock! You have one chance. Put down the vats, and we won't have to fight," Robin didn't quite look menacing in his red, green and black suit, but he did look powerful.

Cinderblock looked confused. It wasn't often he was spoken to directly, words mostly confused him. Slade had usually shown him pictures along with the instructions given. After a moment of contemplation, he decided it would be better to just smash the colorful bug than try to understand what he had said.

He chucked the toxic waste in the direction of the leader. Reacting, Robin jumped. He stepped onto the midair container, and jumped once more, this time at Cinderblock.

"Raven!" was all the instruction given. She seemed to get the message nevertheless. A black shadow appeared around the canister just before it hit the ground, grinding it to a halt. She set it down softly, faint whispers of Azerath Metrion Zinthos were heard in rapid repetition.

Robin attacked Cinderblock, swinging his staff down like an execution ax. It was a direct hit. Instead of falling into the giant rock person, Robin pushed off from his chest, flipping through the air until landing. Both feet on the ground, he called, "Beast Boy!"

He was pointing to Cinder's right leg. BB transformed into a bull, charging the trunk of an appendage. Robin took on a rapid attack on the adjacent leg. When Cinderblock began to totter, Robin smiled. It wasn't the kind of smile a teenager should have been able to have. It was the kind learned after being raised by a man who was never happy. Nothing was good enough. It was a smile hinting at a run-in with a psychopath. It wasn't normal.

But it meant Robin knew they could win. "Cyborg, nail him."

Charged up and ready, Cyborg let his sonic cannon do the rest. Cinderblock fell back. Before he made it to the ground, however, his hand reached up and gripped the only thing there. A tall redheaded girl. Starfire squealed in indignation.

"I am not as weak as I seem!"

Her eyes glowed green, suddenly Cinderblock's hands were exploding in green energy. He released her instantly. However, as he fell back he splashed into the remaining container. This one did not contain a giant amount of toxic waste. Instead it contained gunk. It broke open, exploding onto the superhero teens.

"Yuck! My fur!"

"Man, I gotta clean this. I don't do rust."

"Gross," this was a quiet monotone.

Starfire blushed, she hadn't meant to splash the group. She hoped they wouldn't be angry. She floated down, landing. Robin walked over to her calmly, he had an odd expression. Star couldn't quite understand if he was angry, she still had trouble reading human expressions seeing as the people of her planet just said what they thought.

When Robin reached her, his wide eyed appearance had changed to a beaming smile. "That was amazing, Starfire! Nice work."

He pulled out his communicator, which Cyborg had helped him modify, and contacted the police. Once he had told them where to pick up Cinderblock, he turned to the team again. "Titans, you did well. There's still plenty to work on but that was a good fight."

They made their way back to the penthouse. A whole floor rented out by Robin, as a hangout for all five of them. Robin lived there, his room locked away and never seen by any eyes other than his own. Each of them had a room. Cyborg kept most of his extra parts in his, doing most of his upgrades there. After finding out the penthouse was basically a safe, he transported all his mechanical equipment to make it simple. He continued to live with his parents, however. Beast Boy had filled his room with superhero knickknacks but not much else. He slept there when it was a late night at work, but he didn't tell anyone where he went when he left. Raven lived in her room, a dark abyss created the moment she was allowed to decorate. Starfire had been set up with an adoptive family when the Justice League had sanctioned her living on earth, though she enjoyed her room at the penthouse.

Mucked up and tired, they all made their way into the lounge of the flat through a window or the door leading from the roof.

"The smell will surely leave with a good shower," Starfire said optimistically, then added, "or six."

The girls, being girls, had first dibs on the bathrooms. Cyborg and Beast Boy plopped on the couch to wait, while Robin wrote up a report about the mission in his computer.

Falling back on the couch, Beast Boy groaned. "School starts Wednesday."

Cyborg gave a huge pat on the back to the green boy and responded with a smile, "You got that right. I can't wait to see Bee!"

He and the genetically enhanced girl with wings had been going out since they first met, two years ago. Beast Boy didn't know much, just that they met through their parents. The four adults had worked in the same lab for years and the two children bonded. When Bee first got her wings, she'd shunned everyone, feeling ashamed. Cy had been the only person who could get through to her. When she realized he didn't care she had wings and powers, their relationship strengthened. When he had his accident, she was the only person who could make him feel like his old self. She was the one who convinced him to take that walk a month ago.

The green boy turned to look at their 'Oh so fearless' leader. "What about you, Rob? Will we be seeing you on Monday?"

He looked up but didn't show an expression. "You'll probably see me, but you won't recognize me."

Robin, point blank, told them he would not give away his secret identity. Beast Boy, though not as blunt as Boy Wonder, also asked them to butt out of his home life. Even Cyborg, the only one who knew what the green boy looked like with a halo projector, didn't know. Starfire was open about her Earth life but was hesitant to talk about Tamaran. Raven barely talked, other than random shy moments or sarcastic comments out of nowhere. Cyborg seemed to be the only one who wanted to be friends with all of them for no secretive reason but he took the cues from the others and didn't try to get involved.

By this time, Raven had come down with her book. Her hair was wet and in the hand not holding the old book, she held a round hair brush. Absently she brushed her short raven colored hair dry while she read silently. With one bathroom open, Cyborg went to clean the groves and insides of his tech before it rusted.

Starfire walked out with a towel around her shoulders protecting her cloths from her dripping hair. There was a large knot that seemed to start behind her right ear and make its way into all of her hair. She tried in vain, to untangle it with her fingers. Robin disappeared into the now vacant bathroom.

With a sigh, Raven took pity on her and waved her over. Extremely happy at the other girl interacting with her at all, Star did as told. They sat in silence, Raven in her chair and Star sitting cross legged on the ground. Raven began brushing the tips of the red hair and worked her way up.

After a moment or two of the quiet, Star couldn't take it. She looked around for something, anything, to take over her thoughts. Barely a second later, her eyes caught Raven's book, upside down, held open on the floor. She picked it up and held it up to Raven. After a confused look, Raven pointed to a spot on the page and Star started reading aloud quietly. Raven continued to work on the mess of red hair as Robin reappeared and last but not least Beast Boy took the bathroom.

By the time they were all clean it was past midnight. Star had read all of three pages as Raven made her way through the knot of the century. The slow progress in reading was because Star kept asking questions about things she didn't understand. Beast Boy had gone to his room to pass out once he'd taken his shower. Robin continued to type away at his computer. Cyborg called home and said he was staying at a friend's.

After sleeping for six hours, Robin got up and waited for his team to join him for breakfast. When he had come to Jump, he hadn't meant to join or start a team. All he had wanted was a little trust from the Bat. But no. A solo career was out of the question. No matter how much training he got he would never be good enough to- whatever. Now he was in a new city and no closer to what he wanted. He had to babysit a bunch of superhero wanna-be's until he was sure they wouldn't destroy the city without his supervision.

Robin and Beast Boy had done the hero thing before but the others were pretty new. Star was a fabulous fighter, she just didn't know how to fight with a team. Cyborg was still making modifications to his machine parts. Raven seemed afraid of her powers. Not to say Robin and Beast Boy were perfect. Robin was a bit of a control freak and was somehow too good at being a hero. The others couldn't keep up with him and most of his maneuvers. Beast Boy was used to a different team dynamic. The change between his the Doom Patrol and the Teen Titans was startling and he wasn't sure where he fit in this new group.

Raven came down and brewed her tea. She sat at the marble table and concentrated on her book. She just wanted to stay out of everyone's head but her own. Empathy powers could be useful at times but feeling the emotions of a sleeping person was not her favorite wake up call.

Slowly the rest of the group joined them. After Star, Cy and BB entered the room restlessly, they sat at the table for breakfast in embarrassed silence. None of them were comfortable with the rest of the team. Finally (after inhaling a tofu breakfast) Beast Boy was the one to shatter the tension. "So… are we all going to Jump High?"

They all looked up, slightly stunned, than looked at the others. This seemed to be the first time they all realized they would be going to the same school.

Starfire was the first to respond, "Robin? You're going too?"

"Ahem, yes. My… guardian wants me to get a normal education. I wasn't raised in the most normal of family settings. He thought it'd be… beneficial." After a moment, he added, "I'm sorry I am unable to share my secret identity. It's just, if you know about me, you know about him, and no one is supposed to know about him."

They already knew this. He was connected to Batman, who is the King of Secrets. But trusting in a leader who won't even tell them his name, it made it harder. Cyborg was the one to break yet another awkward silence. "So, we're going into the battle field that is high school alone."

Star looked confused, "We go to school with different names, than we come here and save the city."

"Basically, yeah," responded Cyborg.

"Why do we have to hide who we are?"

"To keep people from freaking out," said Raven.

"To protect those nearest and dearest to us, Star," Robin tried to explain.

When breakfast was over they each set out toward their home. One by one they went back to pretending to be normal.

I just noticed this but "Jump High" as in jump as high as you can? Hehehehe, I'm a dork.
