Aeryn gazed down at her son as she moved slowly to silent music. She had walked him up and down tiers trying to get him to go back to sleep until she had ended up on the terrace dancing with him in her arms. She had watched John do it a number of times and it seemed to work well. D's eyes were struggling to stay open as her hips swayed from side to side.
She had no idea her husband was watching from behind her, mesmerized by her movement and the sight of his beautiful wife dancing with their son. He watched until he couldn't stand there any longer. He walked up behind his wife and slid his arms around her waist while he laid his head on her shoulder and looked down at the beautiful product of their love. Aeryn leaned her head against his.
"I think he's gone." He whispered turning his head to softly bite the lobe of her ear. A smile crossed her face. Despite it being late she knew him well enough to know, sleep was not what he wanted. He turned her toward him and lifted the sleeping child from her arms.
"Sorry, D, but it's my turn." He whispered as he kissed the top of his son's head. He laid the boy down on the quilted table and turned back to his wife.
"May I?" He offered his hand as an invitation. She didn't need to answer as she placed her arm around his neck. She put her other hand in his and let their fingers lace together as she laid her head on his shoulder. They moved slowly, their bodies intertwined in rhythmic dance. A soft hum from him gave them the music needed. Soon his hum turned into words as a whisper to his wife.
"Whoa! My love, my darling,
I hunger for your touch,
Alone. Lonely time."
He felt her tighten her arm against him as his head lowered to whisper the words softly into her ear. He let the tip of his nose softly graze her cheek.
"And time goes by, so slowly,
And time can do so much,
Are you still mine?
I need your love.
I need your love.
God speed your love to me."
His hand moved from her waist and gently his fingers passed through her hair. He placed a soft kiss on her head and felt a tiny shiver from her as his hand slid behind her neck. He gently let his finger rub up and down the back of her neck. Her hand tightened against his own neck and she lightly bit down on his shoulder as he touched what he knew was one of her more sensitive spots.
"I need your love.
I need your love.
God speed your love to me."
He turned her head toward his and tightly drew her in as he slowly lifted his face to kiss her. Their lips met first in a slow soft kiss and then more passionately. He took her in deeply, letting his arm move back down her waist.
"I love You Aeryn." He breathed to her as they parted.
"I know."
He smiled at her reply, though she didn't see it. Her eyes were closed; letting her other senses drink in the moment. They continued to dance underneath the stars in almost complete silence, if it weren't for the quiet breathing of their sleeping son.
