Her last breath

A poem about Jamie's last moment. Landon's point of view.

She lays our bed of white sheets,

I sit beside her,

Jamie… A name I shall never forget,

She made me the man I am today,

I hold her bony hand within mine,

Young as we were,

Love brought us together,

We survived because of love,

And she won't be forgotten because of love,

"Landon" she calls for me,

I look to her direction; clear blues stared at me,

Even in this dying condition, she smiles at me,

How I will miss that smile,

She didn't have much time,

I knew that very well,

I sat closer to her,

I placed butterfly kisses on her face,

From her cheek, to her forehead, and her lips,

I let one tear slip and fall,

Her hands, as weak as it was, held my face,

"I love you" she whispers,

And I cry,

"I love you, Jamie" my voice cracked,

I heard her breathing slows,

Shallower and shallower,

I see her eyes closing,

Her last breath passed her lips,

Jamie, I love you.

So this could have been the missing scene of Jamie's death in the movie. I love the book and movie by the way. Landon is such a strong yet sensitive guy. It's a beautiful love story.
