A/N: This is a one-shot I wrote a while ago. Hope you enjoy.

Disclaimer: I don't own Spot or Bumlets, just Mercy.

My eyes burned and the moon illuminated the tear stains on my face. I watched as he walked her to the door of his car. He caused these tears and the pain that pulsed through me like fireworks exploding in the night sky. I know I'm feeling sorry for myself but I can't help it. "Mercy, it's time to eat!" my brother Bumlets called through the door.

Oh, sorry, in all my self pitying I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mercy Lorenzo but today I'm Abbie. I know this is getting out of hand but I don't want to be called by the name that HE gave me. "I'm not hungry!" I called back as I sat on my bed.

Again, I'm sorry. I bet you're wondering who I'm going on about. Well the object of my despise is none other then Spot Conlon. I now know I'm a fool for falling in love with the handsome Spot Conlon. I never liked how girls would hang on his every word. Spot Conlon had always been a mystery to me; or as my parents would say, "He's a puzzle with so many pieces it will take you years to put together."

Spot and I have been friends for as long as I can remember and…great, my phone's ringing. "Hello?" I asked, still more then a little angry.

"You didn't think I forgot about you, did you?" I'm sure I looked like I had seen a ghost when I heard Spot's voice on the other end of the phone. "Mercy, you there?" Ok I will admit I like the way my nickname sounds as it rolls off his tongue.

"Yeah I'm here. What happened to your date?" Ok so maybe I do sound a little bitter.

"I took her back to her place. I didn't have a good time." He didn't sound all that disappointed.

"Why not?" My mouth is moving so I think I'm talking. My mind is forming words, but they don't sound right.

I heard Spot give a deep sigh on the other end of the phone, "Well I didn't like her to begin with. I just asked her out because I thought she liked me. She did but she agreed that we would make better friends."

I smiled to myself, "Well I'm glad you're still friends with her." I truly meant that too.

"Me too, but never forget you are forever and foremost my girl. Do you understand me, Abigail Riley Lorenzo?"

I laughed, "I understand, but the name's Mercy." With that I talked well into the night with my best friend, the one and only Spot Conlon, the boy who stole my heart.
