An Interrupted Fairy Tale
Hermione Granger was trying to enjoy a book she had received for her birthday from her best friend in the muggle world. Since it was a bit on the risqué side, she decided she should go somewhere she would not be disturbed. A meadow found earlier in her school career with a good redirection charm usually worked well. However, she had forgotten there was a time limit on the particular charm she had chosen, and after a few hours, it had all but disappeared.
She started as she heard the sound of a stick breaking farther into the woods. Quickly placing a bookmark (she was nearly done), she stared off into the darkness to see if the person who was approaching could be seen. Noticing nothing out of the ordinary, the book quickly consumed her attention again.
"What do we have here, Miss Granger?"
'Oh no, oh no, oh no! Anyone but him!'
Hermione tried to hide the book under her blanket, but his arm was like a slingshot - the book was now in his possession. A glance at the cover and a quirked eyebrow later, his query became, "And why are you still reading muggle fairy tales?"
"You see, um, sir, that's not exactly a correct statement, you see, this book is about what happens after the prince whisks her away to his castle. It's not a book for children, to say the least."
"We'll see. Your book will be returned after I have done a bit of reading."
Hermione's face burned red with embarrassment, and she noticed her palms were drenched with sweat. "Please sir, don't mention the book to anyone, no one else knows I have it, and it may cause, um, problems."
Without another word, he turned away from her and started to walk away. Before he got a foot away, she touched the sleeve of his robe and pleaded.
"I have your word nothing will be mentioned to anyone other than myself."
"If I must, you can have my word Miss Granger," he said, stalking away.
She let loose a breath she hadn't known she was holding.
