So Long and Good Night - Witch Hunter Robin One-Shot

A/N: This is just a short one-shot I was thinking up after watching the Witch Hunter Robin finale. I have to admit, that episode made be cry. A lot. Kind of depressing, but what can be expected. Oh well, I love Amon and Robin so much, it makes me sad.

Disclaimer: I do not own Witch Hunter Robin or any of its characters.

The floor rumbled the two dark figured stumbled against the wall, bracing themselves for what was going to happen next. Bright green, stinging eyes closed, this was it. The factory was going down, there was no way they would make it out alive; they were doomed once the first cord on the building snapped; the lights went out. Releasing a shaky breath, the young woman felt a heavy hand place itself on her shoulder; she looked up curiously.

"Robin…" Amon's low voice murmured. She had never seen Amon like this before- he looked apprehensive, but so calm. "We're not going to make it out of here, you know that, right?"

The fifteen-year-old nodded once, looking away. She understood. Her mind was screaming, how could be so tranquil during this time? "I understand that, Amon. D-" The building quivered dangerously, the outer walls collapsing to the ground. "Do you think the other's are all right?"

The black-haired man looked at her gently, his hand tightening on her shoulder, fearful that their friends may not have gotten out. "I'm confident they are." Robin nodded, staring back at the unstable floor; her eyes were reading a blank. So, she thought, this is the way the Devil's Child will die. Not by the hands of SOLOMON or by Zaizen. At least I'm not going alone… I need to be strong for the two of us, I cannot be fearful.

The factory shook again; the hall they stood in began to cave in, the concrete walls tumbling heavily towards the young witch. The man grabbed Robin by the wrist roughly, cuts and bruises forming on each of their pale skins, he pulled her close to her. She slumped against his chest; Amon stroked the back of Robin's head, feeling the sticky crimson blood that was slowly trickled from a deep gash. Her golden hair clung together in dark red chunks, the hunter hugged her tighter.

"I'm sorry… For everything." He whispered over the destruction, using his body was a guard as they were forcefully pushed over by heavy debris.

"Don't be. You did nothing wrong…" Robin whimpered as she fell against the uneven rubble, the man's arms still firmly placed around her protectively. "I- I love you…" She whispered Amon only kissed her forehead tenderly.

They stayed like that without speaking, Amon's grip loosening slightly around her waist, both bleeding badly. Everything was dark and cold. The boulders heavy on each of them. Minutes past without anything else falling on them. They couldn't move anyways, there was no point in trying to get out; they were sealed like this until death.

"Robin? Are you… still there?" There was no answer; he couldn't feel her breathing either. Amon's breath caught in his throat, his dark eyes starting to water. She was gone. Before long, he would be with her. "I love you, too…" He closed his eyes for the last time, falling into death within seconds.
