Chapter 1: Broken and Finish
"Hey mate! Have you tasted eel cobblers?" Ron asked as he, Hermione and Harry were putting all of their trunks to the coach that they have chosen on their way to the Great Hall. They were about to officially start their first night as 7th years at Hogwarts.
"No. I honestly don't care." Harry remarked sarcastically and slammed his trunks on the compartment before muttering "…sounds bloody disgusting…" He was still piss off by the fact the he and Ginny Weasley already broke up this summer. Every time he and Ginny cross path after their break up, there was always an awkward and tense atmosphere between them. The three of them climbed inside the coach. Harry sighed and leaned his head on the seat.
Hermione slightly cleared her throat when she noticed Harry's attitude and turned to Ron "What exactly are eel cobblers Ron?"
"Umm...a pastry…I bought it from Madam Kreema's bakeshop the other week. When you eat it, you'll carry an electric current on your body for 24 hours! You can electrocute everyone you touched. I wonder if Madam Kreema partnered with Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes to make that thing. And yes Harry, it tasted disgusting." Ron explained in a brighter tone to brush off Harry's sarcasm from earlier.
Harry pressed his lips together and nodded at his friend as a sign of apology for snapping.
"Is there still room for three?" Neville Longbottom called out from outside, behind him were Luna Lovegood and Ginny Weasley. Ron took a peek outside and motioned them to come in. The three loaded their trunks and one by one they took a seat inside the coach. Ginny was the last one to enter and the last seat left was the one beside Harry. She slowly scooted beside Harry and looked at him at the corner of her eye. The coach started to move to the castle and everybody was quiet.
It was very awkward. Everybody inside the coach felt uneasy. Ron cleared his throat while Hermione was shifting her eyes nervously from Harry to Ginny. On the other hand, Neville was busy trying to catch Luna's attention by eating 3 chocolate frogs at the same time while she is in a dreamy state unaware of Neville's efforts.
"Hermione why are you not on the Heads carriage?" Ron asked.
"I insisted. The fact that Draco Malfoy is Head Boy! Can you believe it?! I cannot! He is just so irritating that platinum git and I'm going to share the Heads dormitory with him!" Hermione complained.
"That sucks! Harry and I will shower him with unforgivables if he harassed you. Right Harry?" Ron turned to Harry and he gave a mumbled reply. Ron sighed at his reaction and the awkward vibe inside the coach continued.
"Umm...Ginny...how are your class last year?" Hermione asked just to strike a conversation.
"It was good. Potions and Herbology were a little mess but Defense Against the Dark Arts was good." Ginny replied and managed to smile.
"You practiced the Defense Against the Dark Arts with Harry right? Glad you have high gra- aww! What was that for Hermio-" Ron flinched when Hermione pinched her on the waist and it was too late for Ron to realize what he said. He nervously looked at Harry who was still quiet.
"She did her own efforts on that course." Harry spoke out.
"But I wouldn't make that kind of grade without your help." Ginny said casually.
"Will you please just stop that?! I only assisted you alright! And don't go pretending that everything's okay!" Harry shouted and his face became flushed because of his outburst. He was looking at Ginny now and breathed heavily.
Ron, Hermione, Neville and Luna looked at the two of them.
"I..a.." Ginny struggled for words as she was caught off guard by Harry's shouting.
"I-i-it's not like that H-Harry, I-I"
"What?! You're making it so casual and it's pissing me off!"
"I was just trying to make things back to normal Harry! I want you and I to be friends again!" Ginny screamed and her eyes were daring to spill tears.
"Do you really think that I am ready at this point in time?! Do you?! Do you really think it's that easy?" Harry shouted even louder.
"Well, I'm sorry Harry." Ginny said quietly, trying hard not to spill the tears in front of him as she stared at him directly. Harry looked away from her stare and turned his direction at the window.
"Don't say sorry. It can do nothing." Harry's voice was monotone and cold.
The rest of the passengers inside the coach had their mouths shut for the rest of the trip to Hogwarts.
Author's note:
I haven't touched this fic for yeeeeaaaarrrrsss… So I did a little revision…
eel cobbler is the first made-up food... it was the first one to pop in my mind for Ron to have an opening line.
