Prologue: A fateful meeting.

_

Love.

Sounds so simple, it should be easy to understand. I always told myself I've known the feeling.

But how wrong was I?

Ever since we've started going out, he'd always ditch me for some new stupid Championship League. And only come back around when in the mood. And for a while, it had been enough for me, because I thought that was the way he showed love.

It wasn't the case. I should have known Ash was too dense to understand what love truly meant.

Perhaps he's only doing it out of pity. Like I'm some lost puppy with specific needs and issues only he can help out with.

I sighed, looking up at the sky. Maybe I was foolish to believe love was possible for someone like me.

"I suppose I'm not the only one who likes to lie down in the grass and think," I heard someone say.

I immediately turned to face the figure, "Sure doesn't seem like it, considering I'm here."

Drew was his name, he'd said.

All the while, I introduced myself as Serena.

He must have taken notice that something was wrong, since he would not stop looking at me, as if waiting for me to spill what was going on in my mind.

But would it really be wise to share my problematic feelings with a stranger?

No matter. He probably won't let up that stare, until I do.

"Love," I finally said.

"What about it?," he asked.

"I have problems with it," I answered, "I feel as if my so-called boyfriend puts other interests above our relationship. Should there be a way to fix it, I'd like to know."

"You've come to the right person then," he'd said, upon tossing a rose in my hands. "We'll talk all about it tomorrow. Just meet me here, same time."

"Hm?," I raised a brow at his sudden action, taking a short glance at the object tossed to me.

"Hey, wait a minute! I-I'm not-" However, as my eyes searched for him, he was nowhere to be found. All that I had left to remember this meeting was a single thornless red rose.

He was quite strange for a boy. But I suppose I should meet up with him again, I do need the help after all.
