Link stood slowly to his feet. Everything hurt. His body was riddled with injuries. The cause of those injuries standing in front of him.
Ganondorf had malicious smirk across his face. "Well well well, The Hero of Hyrule. You're less dangerous than the maggots beneath my boot." He laughed.
Link looked over at her. The woman who he had sworn to protect. He had promised that he would save her. That he was save her kingdom. That he would save the world from this man. His piercing blue eyes glared into Ganondorf's yellow eyes. He gripped the hilt of his sword tighter.
He slowly began to move. What starts as a slow walk slowly becomes a determined sprint. Link raised his sword and was met with Ganondorf's own blade in his chest. Link clenched his teeth before spitting up blood.
"LINK!" Zelda yelled. Link looked over at his childhood friend.
His facial expression changed when he looked at her. It was a kind expression. That slowly transformed into a determined smile. "Heh… we… win." Using the last of his strength he thrust his sword into the evil man.
Ganondorf's smile turned into a look of horror. He looked down at the sword that was in his own chess.
Link barely managed to step back before he fell to his knees. Ganondorf followed suit. "No. NO NO NO! I can't die now! Not when I'm so close to my moment of triumph!" Ganondorf yelled.
But it was already decided for Ganondorf and Link. The end was nearing for both of them. Link could feel his life slipping but continued smiling. "Looks like… we both die. Oh well… I completed my quest. I die without regret…" Link said.
Though even still he began to cry. He was afraid. Funny, the idea of losing his life hadn't even occurred to him over the course of this adventure. The only focus for him was weather or not he could save his home.
Yet here he was now realizing how bad he wants to live. To grow old, to have a family, to live a life. However one thought came to the front of his mind. Zelda. His childhood friend. His best friend. The woman he secretly loved ever since he knew what love was.
As tears mixed with blood he looked he realized he was being embraced. Zelda was holding him in her arms. She too had tears flowing down her face. Link looked at her. "Heh… what do you know?" He said with a sad smile. "I don't want to die. I'm afraid. I don't want to let go." His smile faded. "I don't… want… to…" He trailed off as his body gave to his injuries.
His breathed his last in Zelda's arms.
