Just Give Me A Chance, a Steven Universe fanfiction
Hey guys, so here's a little one shot I cooked up. It's set after Hit The Diamond and well, read to see what else. NOTE: Everthing belongs to Rebecca Sugar and Cartoon Network, I own nothing.
Lapis lay spread out, staring up at the night sky above her. It was rather beautiful. It had always been, but with everything that's happened to her since she set foot on Earth. The war, being captured, left behind and trapped, and then...
Peridot.
The green gem had really hurt Lapis. Not just in an emotional way, but moreso in pure physical anguish. On the way to Earth, Peridot had bound Lapis and had tortured her in various degrees of pain...
Flashback
''OWWWW!'' The blue Gem shrieked as the gem destabilizer was once again thrust in her lower back, right under her gem. A piercing surge of electricity raced through her body, inducing her horrible screams. Gem Destabilizers had two settings: one destabilized a Gem's physical form, the other was a non lethal but excruceating power setting.
''Hmmm, still not coming clean, your resilence is interesting.'' The technician stated. She then raised her arm and pointed her blaster at Lapis, and then a red wave of energy struck the hydrokinetic.
''AAAAAAHHHHHHH!'' Lapis just wanted it to end, but she wasn't retreating into her Gem, but she could still feel the hot searing pain.
Peridot then deactivated her blaster arm and lowered it, ''Blast it, the heat ray shouldv'e gotten you to crack by now.'' She looked over at Lapis, who had tears running down her eyes and scorch marks from the gem destabilzer had been. The heat ray was none lethal, but the pain it induced had been too much for her.
''Peridot, please! I told you everything now please stop.''
WHAM!
Lapis groaned as she felt the right side of her face throbbing. Peridot reeled back her arm that she's used to punch Lapis.
''Listen here Lazuli, I'm not so certain that your claims are true! If this mission doesn't go well Yellow Diamond will have my gem! So don't think that we're done. Perhaps some solitude will make you more cooperative.'' And with that Peridot walked out of the chamber, leaving Lapis to sob heavily...
End flashback
''It's a nice night, isn't it?'' Lapis turned to see her ex-tormentor kneeling by next to her on the floor.
''Don't you have your own side of the barn? Lapis asked harshly, turning away from her.
Peridot sighed, ''Look Lapis, I know you're still upset at me, and I don't blame you one bit. But just let me say this, please.''
The blue gem after a few seconds turned towards the engineer sitting up. ''What is it?''
Peridot took a deep breath, ''I'm sorry.''
Lapis looked a bit surprised, but she motioned for Peridot to continue.
''Lapis, what I did to you on the ship was horrible and wrong. I didn't just interrogat you. I- I shocked you, b-burned you an-an even hit you!'' Lapis noticed Peridot's voice was cracking. ''The pain I put you through was probrably unimaginable, and some of the methods I used I wasn't even ordered to use, they were optional but I did them anyway!''
Peridot had tears running down her face and she wiped the streaks. ''What I did, some would consider unforgiveable. But I'm asking you not to forgive me, but at least try. At least give me a chance.'' Peridot finished, letting her tears run freely as they dripped onto the wooden floorboards.
That's when she felt a sudden yet warm embrace from the Gem she was talking to. Lapis had her arms wrapped around Peridot, tears of her own falling. ''Listen, I'm not sure if I can ever forgive you.'' Lapis said looking Peridot in the eyes, ''But that doesn't mean I shouldn't try, Peri.'' The two smiled and embraced each other again, as the stars shone brightly above them.
