Part of the "Are you crazy enough to do it challenge"
prompt: 555. (title) Midnight Angels
'You must be crazy,' he mumbled, carefully stroking over her face.
Nymphadora bent over to him. 'Maybe I am,' she said, 'maybe I am just normal enough for you.'
Remus smiled, looking to the sky. 'It's time,' he said quietly. 'We'd better depart...'
'I am not leaving you. You have taken your potion this week, haven't you?'
'Of course I have,' he said, 'but, Dora, it's dangerous...'
'There is nothing more I want than to spent a dangerous night with you,' she said.
They were wandering through the forest. The air of the approaching night was clear and fresh. Their home drew nearer.
'I'll prepare some pancakes for tomorrow morning, how would you like that?'
Remus smiled. 'I love you,' he said quietly. They walked silently into the house. Tonks unlocked the door, just when Remus started to stumble and almost fell on his knees. 'Dora...,' he whispered.
She turned around.
'It's starting,' he croaked. 'Get me inside, will you?'
She nodded and hastened to open the door, offering Remus an arm. She helped him inside their bedroom, just in time when he began to transform.
Sadly, she watched how his human expressions faded away; his face made space for fangs and his hands turned into a paw with claws. His body changed into a wolf's hide, and he opened his maw for a single, loud howl towards the moon.
Then he got a grip on himself, rolled into a corner, and, except for some winces, stayed quiet. Her eyes didn't leave him. In spite of him being a wolf, she still recognized his eyes... his spirit.
Sighing, she sat on the bed, staring out of the window. It still would be a lot of time until midnight broke in, and even longer until dawn. She would wait for him.
