My Queen
Chapter One
Grey Worm had, what he was sure many people would call an unpleasant childhood. Taken from his family at so young an age that he couldn't even remember them or even where he was from. He was then raised as a slave solider, an unsullied. To be sold and bought by noble lords who wanted their own private armies.
He would train for hours as a child in the scorching heat of Astrapor, he would go days, sometimes even weeks without food, water or sleep to building up his endurance. And then, when he eight years old they had taken his manhood, most men, he supposed other men would have begged for death.
Then when he was fully trained he was taken to the slave markets, where he snatched a woman's child from out of her arm's and then slit it's throat, he didn't think he would ever be able to forgot the sound of the woman's screams, and then the sudden silence that followed when her master had grown tired of them.
Yes many would call his childhood terrible, and he didn't deny it was terrible, a terrible life that no one, least of all a child should go through.
And yet…
He would go through it all again, and a thousand times worse if he would still end up where he was now and he would go through a million times worse if she asked him too.
His Queen, his silver Queen with eyes as grey as a wild storm and a smile that outshined the sun on it's brightest day, he wondered what he would do just to get her to smile all the time, not just at him but all the time, she was far too sad.
He remembered the day he had first saw her, entering the gates of Astrapor, he had long since learned not to feel anything, not lust, not love, not happiness, not anger, not joy or sadness, not even suffering as his masters often said, the Unsullied were not men.
And yet, when he had laid eyes on her he felt something, he couldn't name it, it was a heavy feeling that laid in his gut, it had been so long since he had felt anything that he couldn't tell what this feeling was, and he was afraid of it, if the masters had any cause to suspect that the training had failed…their would be no words for what they would do to him.
But even so he could not help it, the way the sun hit her hair, making it shine like the sliver it was, she was a true beauty.
And she was kind as well, when one of the masters performed a demonstration to show her that the Unsullied felt no pain, by slicing of one of his fellow Unsullied's nipples she had spoken out immediately to try and stop him, it didn't work but she had at least tried. No one had ever tried to stop them being subjected to cruelty.
When she had done that the heavy feeling in his gut had tripled in it's intensity and it had not eased since this day, when his Queen had acquired the whip to control them he couldn't help but feeling something, he supposed it would be called disappointment, a part of him had hoped that she would be so disgusted by what was done to him and his brothers that she would flee Astrapor and never look back.
But she hadn't, she needed an army and an army she would have, she needed one so desperately that she was willing to sell her largest dragon to get all eight thousand of them.
When she took the whip however she started to shout her orders in High Valyrian, she commanded them to slay all the masters and free any other slaves, once it was done and Astrapor was free of the master's stench she offered them the chance to go, to be free.
From that moment on he had loved her, and his brothers seemed to as well as no one wanted to leave her side.
Once his brothers elected him as leader, to report directly to the queen no less, he finally got to speak to her face to face. She didn't like his name, it upset and disgusted her that masters would name him after vermin, he would do anything to make her stop being upset.
When she told him that he could change his name if it so pleased him however, he found that he could not do it, when asked why by his queen he had told her the truth, Grey Worm was lucky, it was the name he had when she had come for them.
When he had told her that she smiled at him, it wasn't a happy smile but even so it was a smile and it outshone the sun that was beating down on them.
Since then they had been through a great deal, freeing two cities from their masters and now they resided in Meereen where his Queen now ruled until she was ready to sail upon her homeland and sit on the throne that was hers by right.
And she would sit on the throne, he would die to make it happen if that was what it took.
He could see her now, sitting on the iron throne, he didn't know what it looked like but the knights in his Queen's service had described it to him enough times that he at least had a basic idea of what it looked like.
She would sit on that throne, her knights either side of her. And on her head, a crown would gently sit, her dragons curled at her feet, her eye shinning with her victory.
There were no words for how beautiful she looked.
In his deepest dreams however he had a different vision of the future, she was still a queen but not the queen of seven kingdoms no, she was the queen of him. She smiled every day, she was never unhappy, and her belly…her belly was round with child.
His child.
He know it was impossible, he knew that it was selfish, after all the seven kingdoms deserved a Queen that was as wonderful and kind and swift and just as Daenerys Targyren.
But he didn't care.
There were his dreams and he was a free man, and if he dreamed of a world where he could be loved by a woman he did not deserve, a world where he could give her children, a world where she would find it in her heart to love him, then…
Then that was his business.
