Emma sighed in frustration. "How much longer?" she asked impatiently. The NYPD police officer pursed his lips and replied "Just a few more minutes. Please take a seat."

Begrudgingly, Emma obliged, if only to prevent herself from pacing back and forth in front of the New York City police department.

Was this her life? Here she was, in New York, waiting for Captain Hook to be released from prison. She thought back to the events from just a few hours ago.

As the cop searched Emma, her hands on the wall, she inwardly groaned. Fuck. This would happen. Attempting to look around her for Hook, she prayed he had managed to get inside the apartment, which was essential for their mission.

"Why am I being arrested again?" she asked? "This is ridiculous. I haven't done anything wrong." she said. The cop explained again how she was soliciting in an area that is restricted. She rolled her eyes. The cop finished searching her and began to read her rights.

Spotting Hook turning the corner, she sees him stop abruptly, his eyes widen with concern. His brows furrow and he stalks toward them. The cops have yet to see him. She shakes her head to him, trying to let him know to get away from there, but of course, the man never did listen.

Her eyes widen as she watches him take a glance at the car parked to his left. He looks directly at her, a small smirk forming. She watches as he takes his hook and smashes the windshield of the car, alerting the cops that are currently arresting her to his presence.

"Hey!" the cop arresting her screams at Hook, just as he was about to cuff her. Hook smashes the windshield again and begins causing a scene. The cops, figuring they'd better deal with him before he goes nuts, look at each other. "What about her?" one of them asks. The other cop looks at Emma. "This is your lucky day. You get a warning. I hope we don't see you around here again." he says as he and his partner start running toward Hook, who is now throwing trashcans at the car.

Emma makes a move toward Hook but she sees him shake his head. Because, at that moment, someone has finally opened the door to the apartment building to exit. Emma looks back at Hook and he nods, telling her to go. She swallows and catches the door before it's shut.

Now, here she was, bailing him out. This man. What was he thinking? She wondered. She's been waiting for about an hour as the paper work was processed for his release. She was anxious, and she didn't know why. She needed some air. Advising the cop at the counter that she would be outside, she quickly opened the doors and breathed some of the polluted NY air. It was better than being inside, impatient.

She couldn't believe this guy. This pirate. He was insane, doing what he did. As she paced back and forth in front of the building, she stopped as she spotted Hook coming out. He smiles at her and walks down the stairs.

As he comes in front of her, she smacks him on the shoulder. "Are you insane?!" she yells. "Why would you do that?". She realizes now that her anxiousness from before was just her worry. For him.

Hook smirks and rubs his shoulder. "My lady. What kind of a man would I be if I had just let them take you away?" he asked her. He looked at her straight in the eye, his smirk gone.

Emma was at a loss for words. Thankfully, Hook continued. "Now, shall we?" he asked, suggesting they continue on their mission. Emma nodded, silent, and followed. He couldn't see it, as he was taking in his surroundings, but the tiniest smile formed on Emma's lips.

END.
