Amy felt as if she were eight years old as she sat on her bed, hugging her pillow to her chest. She couldn't help the fact that she missed her best friend, her boyfriend, to the point where she was having a hard time smiling. She felt as if she hadn't seen his face in forever, been in his warm embraceā¦
Not that he held her close that often. Sheldon wasn't the best when it came to physical affection, but they were working on it as a couple. The last time they were together, he had hugged Amy for a solid hour, intertwined their fingers, buried his face in her hair. Maybe that was why she missed him so much now, being away from him for this long wasn't good for her health.
Neither was mindlessly staring at the screen of her phone while she waited to hear from him. They had talked earlier that day, but hadn't seen each other since three nights before because Sheldon claimed he was now sick, though nobody knew for sure what his issue was. Either way she was dying to see him and feel his arms around her.
She decided to message him. By the time she typed one out and read through it, she began to feel childish all over again. She could survive a few days without Sheldon by her side, could she not? Amy began to groan, feeling pathetic and lonely and everything in between.
In the end all she sent was a simple "Hello" through Facebook. Her eyes never left the conversation as she waited, held her breath, for him to see it and, hopefully, respond.
His profile picture popped up in a small circle, the words "Hello, Amy." right beside it. She bit her lip, and tapped out a new message, asking him how he was feeling.
"I am well, how are you?"
She planned on telling him she was fine. Good, well, cheerful. Something inside her pressed for something more, however, and with a gulp she typed out "In need of a hug".
It took Sheldon a bit longer to answer her message. Amy began to panic, fear she may have pushed him a little too far this time, but her face lit up as a new message appeared. He asked her why, and she sighed. Did she need a reason?
She asked him that, and waited, for a one word response: "fine" he said, and then everything was eerily quiet. He didn't say anything more, and Amy wondered if he had maybe fallen asleep on her, as it was past his bed time. She sighed and laid down on her bed, starring at the ceiling.
Her phone, which was on her stomach, vibrated. A Hello Kitty sticker is what he sent her. One with a bigger cat that was hugging a smaller one, both with tiny smiles on their faces.
Amy's heart skipped a beat. She wondered if Sheldon knew how romantic he was being, but it didn't matter. Her smile seemed glued to her face as she typed "thank you," and sent it to him. He replied with a "Np :)" and Amy giggled.
"Trying to be cool?" she asked and browsed through her newsfeed for a moment, already feeling better. She even managed to get up and into her pajamas and brush her teeth before she checked their conversation again.
"I don't have to try, I already am." Sheldon said.
Amy shook her head slowly with a growing grin. Her boyfriend was so cute sometimes.
"How long will it be before I can get a real hug and not one over the Internet?"
She sighed contentedly. With any luck he'd get better the next day so they could see each other.
"Saturday?" Her excitement caused her to squeal quietly in the solitude of her room.
"Sounds good :)"
