Okay. This is a little one-shot fic that would not get out of my head until I wrote it. If you don't like fluff, don't read because this thing is full of it. Fluff and angst. It seems to be the only thing I can write right now.
Summary: Hermione has had enough. Voldemort rules, Dumbledore is dead and Harry and Ron are unapproachable. As she climbs the hill to her death she meets someone at the top.
Anyways on with the show..
Climbing the steep hill to the top of the summit Hermione stopped to look around. This was the end of the road. She couldn't take life anymore. When Dumbledore died everything went downhill. Voldemort reigned supreme and as much as Harry, Ron and herself did to try and overpower him, they couldn't win.
The weather matched her mood. It was dark and off in the distance was a fierce lightning storm threatening to move over to where she was.
Reaching the top Hermione saw a familiar shadow at the cliff edge.
"What are you doing here?" she asked tiredly
"Stopping you from making the biggest mistake of your life." He answered
"Go away. I want to be alone. There's nothing you can do, the damage is already done."
She approached the edge carefully.
"They need you. We all need you. I need you."
Hermione turned around to face the man.
"What?"
"You heard correctly. I need you. You helped me at my lowest time and now I will return the favour."
Hermione scowled, "I don't need your pity. I can handle this by myself. Nobody can help me now."
The man sighed, "Look, Hermione it cant be that bad. Nothing is worth killing yourself over."
"What did you just call me?"
"Hermione, if you will just come down here we can talk about what your going to do."
Hermione sat on a rock staring despairingly over the cliff.
"You called me Hermione. Nobody's called me that since, well, Sirius died. For the teachers it's always been Miss Granger and Harry and Ron just called me 'you'. But nobody has called me Hermione in ages."
She stood up and walked over to the edge balancing on her toes. "It will all be over in a minute and then they will see how much they needed me. Anyway I have nothing to live for. The person I love doesn't love me back."
Hermione threw her arms back and fell over the edge. The man ran forward and grabbed her around the waist before she could fall too far.
"Hermione you can't do this. You have to be strong."
He hugged her close and rubbed her back as the tears cascaded down her cheeks.
"Ever since that night when you treated me with so much care and consideration after the revel I have respected you, as a witch and a person. Ever since then I can't stop thinking about you. I don't think I could face all of them without you."
"Hermione" he lifted her head up, "I love you."
She opened her eyes a little. "Did you just say." she trailed off.
He answered her by tenderly pressing his lips to hers. She responded by deepening the kiss. When she finally pulled away. He lifted her up and began walking back to the castle.
Before falling asleep she whispered, "I love you too, Severus."
Did you like? Did you hate? Read and Review please. I need constructive criticism but I prefer lots and lots of praise!
