Resident Evil/Biohazard: Being Careful

Summary:

What if HUNK had been a bit more careful after William Birkin was gunned down at his underground laboratory, negating the G-Transformation events with the scientist's execution?

William Birkin's laboratory, Basement 5 Floor, Raccoon City Underground Research Facility, underneath Raccoon City, somewhere in Midwestern US

"Dammit, I already told you that Birkin didn't fire his pistol on us!"

Umbrella Security Service agent HUNK shouted at Miguel, his partner for USS Alpha Team when he riddled the renegade scientist's body with several 9mm bullets from his Heckler and Koch MP5A3 submachine gun.

"Goddamit!" HUNK rushed in, aiming his MP5A3 at the downed Birkin while kicking away the Ruger P89 pistol in case Birkin would try to grab it despite being wounded.

"What happened there? We heard gunshots."

HUNK gritted his teeth in anger when he checked on Birkin's pockets. "Grab the cases containing the G-Virus."

"Understood." Miguel slinged his submachine gun on his right shoulder and checked the contents of the metal case containing the G-Virus in vials before closing it. "I got it."

"My partner shot Birkin up when we're not suppose to kill him." HUNK eyed the broken mug nearby. "Mistook a broken mug for a gunshot." The USS agent eventually found a vial of the G-Virus hidden in his pants pockets.

"I'll be taking this, Birkin. Have a good evening." HUNK told the wounded Umbrella scientist sarcastically before he placed the G-Virus on an empty pouch on his tac vest before he clicked on the PTT button on his vest. "Attention Bravo, Charlie and Delta Teams. G-Virus is secured. Retreat back to rendezvous point."

Curse you, Spencer. A wounded Birkin could only watch as the two USS agents moved out of his lab, cursing at himself for being able to move due to his gunshot wounds.

Forgive me, Annette. Sherry. The blonde man found himself drifting off to the dark, Birkin's eyes closing as he lost a lot of blood from the confrontation.

"Nothing personal, doctor." HUNK drew out Matilda, his HK VP70 pistol and fired one shot at Birkin's head to ensure that there were no loose ends. "Just following my orders from Ms. Henri."

PS - I always wanted to try this out. After all, this would have negated the events of RE2/3 if this happened. Hoped you guys liked it at least. Been a while since I did an RE fic. Planned to do one on Umbrella's security forces with regards to the Raccoon City Outbreak based on characters from the games, novels and the first three Paul Anderson films.
