Roxas looked and felt inexplicably sad as he stood in the door to Axel's bedroom, one hand lingering on the doorjamb as the other pulled his backpack up. "Axel…?"

Axel looked up from his homework at his desk in slight surprise. Upon seeing the expression on the other's face, he got up quickly and moved closer to Roxas. "Baby?" he asked softly, "Are you okay?" He bowed his head a little, stroking Roxas' cheeks with the backs of his fingers.

"I…" Roxas sighed and looked down, letting his bag slide off his shoulder to the floor. "I don't know. I had a bad day at school."

Roxas didn't need to say any more. Axel reached down to take Roxas' hand, drawing it up and kissing his knuckles and pulling the blonde closer with his hand on the back of the other's neck. He stooped a little more to look into bright blue eyes. "It'll be okay, baby," he murmured.

Roxas nodded slightly and Axel pressed a lingering kiss to the blonde's forehead. He blinked back burning tears and stepped into the other young man's embrace, hiding his face in Axel's neck and inhaling the faint scent of cologne.

"Roxas," Axel smoothed his hands across the small boy's back.

"Yeah?" His voice was muffled.

"I love you,"

Roxas suddenly felt better, like an entire weight was lifted off his shoulders. He relaxed visibly into Axel's arms. "Love you too, Ax."
