Thumps in the Night
by-Sev
The curser blinked, on and off, silently teasing her. She leaned back in the wooden computer chair, creaking as it went, and tapped her peach lips thoughtfully with her calloused fingertips.
"Well, damn."
It was around midnight, the sun had since long ago set, and the young writer, Kagome, still tapped away at her computer. The pounding rain against the windows blended together with the snores sounding from the couch across the room, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Maybe a bit too relaxing. She let go a jaw-cracking yawn and leaned forward into a sitting position. Writing is such a fickle thing, she mused, while rubbing her eyes. The snores volume increased and Kagome glanced over her shoulder wearily. The sleeping form of her short-tempered sweetheart draped himself across her tan plush couch, his dark mass of hair contrasting sharply against the warm tones of their living room.
The apartment was small, with enough space to accommodate the two struggling, and constantly broke, college students. Her couch, along with a number of his mismatched chairs and tables, sat haphazardly about the room. A sudden strike of lightning followed closely by the booming of thunder caused Kagome to jump with a start.
She stood, stretching her tired arms and let loose a long, loud groan. Quickly saving her progress, if any, on her computer and flicking the 'off' switch, she slowly trudged toward the boy, muttering a curse as she went.
She shook his shoulder lightly, speaking quietly into his ear, "Sessho, scoot over."
He cracked a dark eye open, mumbled something unintelligible, and moved towards the edge of the couch. Kagome, knowing this was the only answer she was going to receive, slid into the space between him and the back of the couch.
A few short moments of silence passed.
"Do you think I'll ever get passed the next chapter?"
She looked over at Sesshomaru, chest rising and falling evenly, eyes closed; anyone else would have thought he was sleeping. Kagome knew better. She nudged him in his side.
He turned to face her, giving her a stony glare, but the ice was lost in his sleepy voice, "If you do that once more, I shall be forced to do something unpleasant, my dear."
She pouted and he turned away again only to have Kagome push him off the side of the couch, landing with a dull 'thump'.
Sesshomaru groaned while she giggled, leaned over the side of the offending sofa, and kissed him.
Nah, you love me too much.
