There's a saying that something you do comes back to you times three. If it's something good, you shouldn't have much to worry about. Something bad on the other hand... watch out. But what about something that is both morally and ethically right, but legally wrong. Or wrong in the eyes of a small group of people?

There are risks. That's a given in her job. There are consequences, and she knew them when some G-Man in a one-thousand dollar suit threatened prosecution for any leak. This wasn't about her, it was about saving three children from enduring any more trauma, and protecting countless others from a deadly threat. When it came time to meet Zane, she didn't blink at the fact that she could end up in jail. If she couldn't do what was right, then her job, pension and freedom weren't worth a damn.

Nor did she try to cover her ass when Zane ended up incarcerated. To the contrary, she wanted him to tell the truth so he could get out, but he refused. "You can't have free speech without free media," he explained. Oliva's respect for the man moved up a notch; she respected his wishes. She left the visitor's area and didn't look back.

To her surprise, she slept well that night, and since. Soon after, she focused back on her work. No one in the squad said a word about what she did, though they knew. Though they couldn't admit it openly, they admired her courage.

Though, somewhere in her mind, she couldn't help but wonder: when and how will her decision come back to haunt her. She knew it was inevitable, but that didn't shake her.

Why should it? It was the right thing to do, even if some suit said otherwise.
