Ohio is a visually unremarkable young man. His hair and eyes, typical - the approximate shades of soybeans before harvest and the dappled green of dying grass, respectively - and his build sturdy and strong. The only aspect of his appearance that anyone ever commits to memory is the ever-present, brilliantly red carnation that remains constantly tucked neatly into his lapel. An homage to one of his people, a certain Mr. William Mckinley.
As if to make up for what he lacks in looks, Ohio possesses many quirks that his siblings can't quite understand: cities whose names they can't pronounce or spell, laws that make them scratch their heads, an affinity for absurd lawn decorations, nearly unpredictable weather patterns, and many such peculiarities.
He doesn't mind; his people hold the oddities in high esteem, somewhat like trophies. They see them as symbols of pride for their homeland, nestled between a Great Lake and a beautiful river, right in the heart of it all.
William Mckinley: one of seven presidents who came from Ohio. He always wore a red carnation in his lapel as a good luck charm, and because of this, the scarlet carnation became Ohio's state flower.
This is my first time writing something for Hetalia and the first OC I've ever created. Please, for the love of all that is good, tell me what I'm not doing well with. I'm completely unhappy with this, but I wanted an introduction and this was what happened, sadly. My first legitimate chapter will probably be based on "...you know what real buckeyes are and you have a recipe for the candy ones." I'd like to fix this God-awful introduction somewhere along the way. Thank you for reading this!
