"Hello Rory" Emily says as she opens the door letting Rory in for Friday night dinner, "Richard isn't here tonight so it's just us girls." Emily smiles
"Hi Grandma" Rory said
"Everything okay? You seem sad." Emily asked with her hand on Rory's shoulder
Rory starts sobbing. "No, nothing is ok. I broke up with dean and my mother is mad at me because she says that I like jess and that's why I broke up with dean and my life is falling apart."
"Oh Rory. Calm down, sweetie. Everything is gonna be ok."
"No, it's not! I swear my mom won't talk to me and dean is angry and jess is just being...jess."
"Rory please calm down. Look, I've been where you are and it's not fun but you'll get through it. I promise." Emily hugs Rory and comforts her.
Finally, Rory stops crying and starts to drink her soda.
"Grandma?"
"Yes, Rory?"
"I'm really sad."
"I know, sweetie. But you'll get through it."
"I really do like jess but I feel horrible that dean is upset."
"Oh Rory. Sweetie, it's gonna be okay. Just give it time."
"Okay. It just hard."
Emily gives Rory and Rory calms down.
"Do you wanna go have some dinner?" Emily asked Rory.
"Yeah. That'd be nice, Grandma."
