Breath
The lake's surface is iced so heavily that it shatters in glasslike fragments when the three of them fall through.
For a moment Sakura is suspended above the world as something other than herself; for a moment she is a spirit, waiting and watching herself struggle, ready to pull her boys from the water and drag them up to Heaven with her.
But she isn't dead yet. None of them are.
Her body sinks to the bottom and then there are rocks in her mouth and clumps of hardened sand floating near her eyes. She feels all of this and knows that she is alive, and she kicks up—but comes down once more.
There's something around her ankle and she isn't going to make it…the hole in the ice above is so small, and did all three of them really plunge through it? It's so small.
But then there are hands at her elbows, and darkness surging past as she rushes up, up, carried by the current that is Team Seven.
And then, and then—
Bliss.
Naruto and Sasuke are shivering together and both of them look fit to kill, but for now—just for now—the two of them are frozen to eachother, half-glaring and half-smiling.
Sakura grins and thanks them because she's cold and wet and alive.
Fin.
