"Guv, I've got to pop out for a while."
Gene looks up from his paper work to see Tyler poking his head through the door way, frowning as he sees the man's eyes twitch to his clock and back.
"No," is the grunted response Tyler gains, Gene's eyes returning to his paper work, but continuing to speak before Sam can get his bit in. "We've three murder victims, no murder weapon, no murderer, no nothing, so no."
"Guv-"
"No, Tyler."
"It wasn't-"
"DI Tyler, I said no."
"I'm not deaf. I heard you the first damned time, but it doesn't mean I don't have to go!"
Gene near on grins as he hears Tyler's voice getting that shade higher, tighter, showing the annoyance the man was getting.
"And yet, you still don't get that I said no."
Without another word, Sam seems to slump and give in, before gaining momentum and walking straight out of the office, sliding his jacket on. DCI Hunt jumps up, following Tyler down the stairs quickly, only in time to see the coat tail flick around the corner. Gods, the man was fast.
Sighing deeply, Gene sets out for his trusty Cortina, firing her up before then taking off after Tyler. The thin man is still running, coat flapping behind him like a little cape of some sort. Well, at least it was when Gene could see him. Having to use his great knowledge of his city, Hunt manages to get himself stuck in traffic outside of a school and slams down his fists, cursing the fact that he must have lost Sam. Again.
. . . Or not. He'd never followed him this far before, thus had never seen the huge grin on the man's face as he scoops up the young lad and speaks to him, laughing, and then putting the younger boy down, taking his hand and walking down the street. If he wasn't mistaken, that was that Tyler kid... Wait, DI Sam Tyler was collecting Ruth Tyler's kid, Samuel, or Sammy Tyler, from school?
"I knew that kid reminded me of someone," Gene laughs, turning the car and heading back to CID, waving off the questions he gets asked from Ray and Chris when he returns, but the grin doesn't wipe off his face for some time.
