Lexie opened her eyes and saw Alex asleep in the chair next to her bed. Teddy and Meredith still had no ID on the mother nor had the police caught the suspect of the hit and run on Lexie and her mom.

"Dr. Alex...?" Lexie said with her throat scratchy front the tube that was recently in her throat.

"Hey! Hey, hey Lexie. I'm here. It's Dr. Alex. Lexie. I have to ask you some really hard questions. Do you think you can help me out?"

"Yes sir. Where is my mommy? Is she okay?" Lexie said as the tears came to her little brown eyes.

"Dr. Altman and Dr. Grey are still fixing her. Lexie. Do you know where you live? And do you have any family?"

"We drove for a long time to get here. My mommy was looking for my uncle. He's a doctor. My mommy has a baby in her tummy too. I have never met my uncle but I want to. My grandma lives far away. I'm sorry but I don't remember where. I'm really tired Dr. Alex. Can I talk to my mommy now?"

"Not yet Lexie. But soon. I'll be right here if you need me." Alex said as he walked out.

Meredith and teddy walked to Alex. Their faces full of distraught.

"So she is pregnant. 6 months. We couldn't tell the gender but the Ultrasound was fine for now but baby was having decels. Carina gave steroid shots to help in case of an emergency c. She's watching her now. Did the kid give you anything to go on?" Meredith said as she updated the chart.

"Not really. But it is weird. This kid reminds me so much of my little sister, Amber. She looks just like Amber when she was a kid. All I know is her name is Alexandra but she goes by Lexie. She's 5, Mer. She can't know too much." Alex said as he wiped his brow.

"We've got her stable in ICU. If she makes it the next 24 hours, we will go back in and do more damage control. The kid, how is she?" Teddy said as she sipped from her coffee cup.

"She has a broken humerus and a grade 2 spleen lac but she is going to be okay. Head CT was clean as well as the abdominal ct. I just need to find her family. She's all alone. Mer, think Ellis would play with her if I took her to the daycare?" Alex said excitedly.

"Yeah and Allison is up there right? She's gonna have a baby brother or sister soon. Maybe they can keep her busy until we find some answers on her family." Meredith said.

"Owen is probably up there spoiling her more than anyone so if you want a chance you better go now." Teddy said.

Alex grabbed a wheelchair and wheeled Lexie into the daycare. Ellis ran up to Alex and gave him the biggest hug.

"Hey little Ellis! This is my friend Lexie. Think you can play with her for a little while until we can get her mommy better?" Alex said.

Ellis shook her head yes and began playing with Lexie and Barbie dolls.

"Lexie, the doctors are taking care of your mommy now. Is there anything else you can think of to tell me?" Alex said sternly.

"Dr. Alex, my daddy isn't coming here is he? He hit my mommy a lot. I don't want him here. His name is John."

"Lexie... what is your mommy's name?" Alex says frantically.

"Amber."

"Oh crap." Alex says blanks before running to Meredith.
