"Rise and shine" Alex said as he kissed Jo's forehead.

"No no no I can not deal with anymore baby chicks and ducks today. You do it!" Jo said laughing as she pulled the covers over her head.

Alex sighed as he tossed Jo's clothes on the bed while putting on his own. He stretched his shirt over his toned muscles and head and saw Jo staring directly at him. She looked away as fast as she could giggling after he caught her staring.

"Like what you see?" Alex said as he crawled onto the bed to tickle her.

"I'm so lucky to have you. I love you" Jo said as she cupped his face and kissed him like it was the first time.

"And I love you" alex said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her off the bed to hold her.

They stared quietly at each other taking in all the alone time they had before separating at work. They might see each other every couple hours at work but it was rare they had a moment like this since Jo had the misfortune of meeting her birth mom. She was finally starting to open up again and was finally smiling like her old self. That's all Alex wanted was to see his lady smile.

Alex and Jo arrive at work and spot Andrew and Meredith over by the coffee cart giggling like two teenagers. They waved to each other before walking into Grey-Sloan for another day of work.

"Karev! Hey, we have a MVC coming in. Hit and run. Small child and pregnant mother" Teddy Altman yelled as she ran past Alex. "Page Grey please! And watch out for the cops. They are looking for the suspect and will want answers to their questions."

Alex felt his heart fall into his stomach. He knew when he signed up for this job, it wouldn't be pretty. Addison and Arizona taught him everything there is to know but some days he just wasn't prepared for what he had come into the hospital. He could hear the sirens outside as the ambulance pulled in.

"20 something year old Jane Doe with blunt force trauma to the face, head, chest and abdomen. BP 90/50 and GCS of 4. Not sure how far along she is. There was no ID at the scene. Kid is right behind us." the paramedic said as he unloaded the woman.

"Alright page OB stat!" Teddy said as she and Meredith ran into the hospital.

"5 year old female, penetrating wound to the left upper quadrant with a GCS of 12. Complaining of chest pain and severe pain in the left arm also."

"Alright thanks man. Hey kid. I'm Dr. Alex. Can you tell me your name?" Alex said to the little girl.

Alex could see tears in her eyes as she tried to move her arm but it wouldn't budge. He lifted her oxygen mask for her.

"Alexandra but everyone calls me Lexie. We have the same name almost. Dr Alex. My arm hurts really bad."

"Alright Lexie, I'm gonna take care of you ok? Don't you worry about anything."

"Dr. Alex, is my mom okay?"

"The doctors here are really good. Don't you worry. Dr. Grey and Dr. Altman are the best for your mom. We can see her in a little while. Lexie? Do you have any family around or know you know where you live?"

The little girl began to struggle breathing. She couldn't catch her breath and she began to lose consciousness.

"Alright bag her! Get a crash cart in here!" Alex yelled. "I'm not gonna lose her."
