A/N: Just a little bit of drabble! Sort of a summary of Torchwood...Even I find it difficult to understand what it is exactly! Oh well, enjoy!
The 21st Century's When Everything Changes
We were a small organisation. Just us battling against alien activities and crime.
The job gets to you after a while, gets inside your head. Some of us couldn't take it any longer.
There was a job going spare and everything changed.
You made a mistake, and took it upon your shoulders. Not many people would do that.
Our first day as a team. And we won.
The ghost machine. We could see the past, solve forgotten crimes. Some of us got caught along the way.
Then we could see the future, something that ordinary humans aren't meant to see. But it was too late.
The cyberwoman…
Dark secrets hidden from others. Hidden in the basement, but you can't blame him. He was just hanging on to something he had lost, like we would all do.
We saw how small the world is. Battled the supernatural and lost the little girl.
He saw an old friend, and held her in his arms in the rain knowing the awful truth. She was dead and he lives on, more alone than he was before.
We've battled aliens, seen the supernatural. But we couldn't understand humans. Couldn't understand why.
She'd planned a normal life. But then she met Torchwood, and her view of the world had changed. She couldn't share it with anyone.
"Now you can…"
It was a mixed blessing, reading people's thoughts. You see people in a new light. She made a new friend, and fell in love. But then she lost it all.
"Don't let it put you off. Love suited you."
The pendant could change the world. It could bring down governments, wipe out armies. Not anymore. It is just dust.
It was all planned from the start. Life is everything.
She was slowly dieing, and Susie would live on.
"There is something out there, in the darkness. And it's coming Captain Jack Harkness. It's coming for you…"
They destroyed the glove. But remember, gloves come in pairs…
The alien eye. Eugene died for it, but didn't know how.
She helped him find out. She couldn't see him, but he was there.
"Thank you Gwen."
"Three lost people that have suddenly become our responsibility…"
He found her. Fell in love.
But he had to let her go.
They kidnapped the Weevils. Used them to try and find meaning in a world that doesn't have any.
His life wasn't worth living anymore. He had lost the love of his life. He got in the cage, and was at peace.
"I didn't want saving…"
An unexpected secret. But you have to expect the unexpected.
He helped him find out who he truly was in a world that wouldn't accept him, and lived his last day to the full.
"He would be honoured that you took his name…"
The rift opened. The world splintered.
Temptation is one of the emotions of the human race that can rarely be beaten. This time we didn't win.
"Jack, we all saw visions of who we loved. What did you see?"
"Nothing…there was nothing."
"What would have tempted you?"
"The right kind of Doctor…"
"The 21st century is when everything changes, and we weren't ready…"
