DISCLAIMER: The song isn't mine, the character's aren't either. The story is, however, 100% V.W. Laray. Enjoy :)
"OI, Prongs, what's this?" Sirius asked, toying with the orange and blue walkman in his hand.
"HEY! That's mine! Evans gave it to me…" James snatched the walkman from Sirius' grasp.
"With that muggle song?" Sirius asked, pulling from his pocket a tape. It was labeled 'Hooked On A Feeling'. Sirius was smirking now, James blushed.
"No… Marley gave that to me. Said I could relate to it or whatever." James snatched that too and threw himself on his bed.
He never used the walkman or the tape. Lily had given it to him on his birthday and later that day, Marley had given the tape to him. It was summer already and he had gotten the present years ago, it seem so rude not to listen to the song.
"Listen to it then." Sirius urged, as if reading his mind. "Use the headband- sorry, headphones- though."
James obliged. He pressed the 'on' button and put on the headphones. It was like magic. In seconds chants of men- were they in the walkman?- flowed around him. Someone began to sing.
"I can't stop this feelin'
Deep inside of me.
Girl, you just don't realize
What you do to me."
James had an idea. He instantly turned it off. "Surrey. We HAVE to get to Surrey."
"What is that noise?" Petunia barged into Lily's room, furious and VERY annoyed.
"What noise?" Lily asked, looking up from reading the letter Marley had sent her yesterday.
"THAT noise!" Petunia pointed to the window.
The two girls ran to the window and looked outside of it, there stood James Potter with a small walkman emitting loud music. Sirius Black stood nearby, leaning on his motorbike, smirking his brains (if he had any, mind you) out.
The song was vaguely familiar. The voice was-
"I can't stop this feelin'
Deep inside of me
Girl, you just don't realize"
Lily couldn't think, it wasn't possible… She had given him the walkman in First Year…
"What you do to me
When you hold me in your arms so tight
You let me know everything's alright
I'm hooked on a feelin'
High on believin'
That you're in love with me"
She was crying now, did he really feel that way about her? She began to run downstairs, past her parents and onto the porch.
"Lips are sweet as candy
The taste stays on my mind
Girl, you keep me thirsty
For another cup of wine
I got it bad for you, girl
But I don't need a cure
I'll just stay addicted
And hope I can endure
All the good love when we're all alone"
Merlin, merlin, merlin, merlin. She already fancied him, he had to make things even more- even more- more AMAZING!?
His wand was pointed to the walkman, obviously he was using a Sonorus charm.
"Keep it up girl, yeah you turn me on
I'm hooked on a feelin'
High on believin'
That you're in love with me
All the good love when we're all alone
Keep it up girl, yeah you turn me on
I'm hooked on a feelin'
I'm high on believin'
That you're in love with me"
The song came to a close, and the walkman was slid back into James' pocket.
"Go out with me, Evans?"
Lily threw herself at him. They were kissing.
James could honestly say her lips were as sweet as candy.
The song is Hooked On A Feeling by Blue Swede. MY FAVORITE SONG EVER.
