The blood oozed out of the wound, falling to the ground as if it were rain. The ground was soaked with the never ending blood. Merlin held closely onto the being within his arms. Too afraid to let go. He thought that if he let go then Arthur would die. He refused to let go of his love that easily. "Arthur, please... come back to me." His voiced cracked as he tried to plead with the blonde.

Merlin forgot the battling storming around him. He forgot the knights fighting for their King. He forgot the enemy. He forgot all about their cause. About Camelot. To Merlin they were the least important thing in the world right now. In his arms laid his entire universe. In his arms was no King of Camelot but his friend. His love. In his arms laid the person that made Merlin whole and that person was slipping away. "Wake up, you Clot Pole!" Merlin swore he could hear Arthur mumbling back to him. "C'mon, Arthur. Wake up!

The tears fell freely from his face. They made the dirt on his face run as they fell onto Arthur's face. Mixing with the blood upon Arthur's face. He wanted to wipe it away. He wanted to clean Arthur's face and for everything to be okay but it wasn't okay. The blood would be going nowhere and cleaning it away would not help save Arthur. "Arthur Pendragon, don't you give up on me!" Merlin fell forward and resting his head upon the breastplate of Arthur's armour. The cold metal sent shivers down his spine and he was forced to sit up. He took one of his hands and finally placed in upon Arthur's face. He traced his fingers alone Arthur's cheek bones and began to plant soft kisses on his forehead.

A soft gasp erupted from the King's mouth, forcing Merlin to sit up. He waited. Waited for Arthur to say something. Anything. Arthur painfully opened his eyes to see Merlin, eyes full of tears, begging him to stay alive. He could hear Merlin blaming himself for everything that past. For not protecting Arthur. Gathering the remainder of his strength, Arthur spoke is a raspy voice. "I'm sorry." He croaked. Arthur hoped that Merlin understood. "I lov-"

With that the final gasp of air escaped Arthur's lungs before he got to finish this dying words. The light faded from his eyes. The last thing he saw was the blurring figure of Merlin, screaming to the heavens. Until then... there was nothing but darkness.
