One evening Edward decided to take a walk. He was meandering along, calm as a rock, and fell into a well.

The next night Bella decided to take a walk. She also fell into a well.

The night after that, Jacob Black walked past the well and heard Edward and Bella talking to each other in their sordidly romantic fashion. And kept walking.
