Prologue

There was once a man who lived in the Land of Water. Little was known of him, as he kept to himself.

The villagers of Kirigakure left him alone as he occasionally helped them, and the few ninja that knew of him left him alone, for they thought of him as no threat.

His name was Tenshi.

He lived in the Forest of One Thousand Pines, rarely situated by anyone because of the eerie atmosphere, and disturbing silence. Few animals were ever seen in the forest.

Once a month, three of the village children would go to the Tenshi's house and ask him for the fish he caught for them. The fish Tenshi caught were that unlike any the villagers of Kirigakure ever saw. Bright and bold with large ribbon- like fins and, shiny scales they were very unlike the drab, grey fish the villagers were used to.

Of course they never ate Tenshi's fish, but instead stuffed the insides with butcher paper, and sold them at festivals, to curious foreigners who looked at Kirigakure and wondered where the bright wondrous fish had come from. Of course the villagers wondered how the old man had procured them as well.

You see, Tenshi was blind.

Well, everyone assumed so. There were bandages wrapped tight around both his eyes, and of course everyone wondered where, had the blind old man got the fish from. However the villagers, scared that Tenshi would stop providing them with fish if they questioned him (and the fished earned them quite a fair bit of money) stayed quiet, and didn't talk to him apart from the odd murmured thanks.

When the ninja of Kirigakure saw Tenshi, they would sneer and grab his cane, as they were annoyed at how the villagers seemed to revere this stupid old man for just catching some stupid old fish. Tenshi would sometimes fall to floor when the ninja were in an especially foul mood, but he would never try to fight, only struggling to get up after he was sure the nin had left. None of the villagers would ever help him, but would hurry around him, as if he was invisible.

Then Tenshi would limp home, make himself a cup of tea (with a few drops of sake)and lie down to rest.

It was to this man Hinata would eventually flee to.

So, how was it? I know Naruto, and everyone else hasn't really appeared yet, but it'll be in the next chappie. This is my first Naruto fanfic. Tell me what's good, what's bad, and that jazz. This is just a prologue, so it isn't that long, and it's more of a bit of background to paint Hinata against.

So tell me what you think? (:
