The other version wasnt working out. Here is a newer version of the story. Sorry for the ones who did like it before. The elements of the other is still there just not the same.
Rukia had lived in the Rukon District for a very long time. It was harsh and dangerous and no place for a little girl like her to live by herself. It was a good thing that she really wasn't alone. Rukia had a good and faithful friend that stayed by her side through thick and thin, defending her when she was in trouble. He was a good deal older than her (at least more than five years) and didn't really talk that much, but boy could he fight. He was nothing like Rukia had ever seen. He had long dark red hair and dark red eyes that could make anyone stop in their tracks. He wasn't the same as everyone else, Rukia was sure of that, but without him she would have never been able to survive the harsh cruelties of the Rukon District. He was her secret weapon, her protector, her best friend; she had even planned for him to become more than that. Even though their age was a bit far apart, she was determined that in the future, they were going to be married... even in Renji didn't know it yet.
Things were going well and great and then one day, out of the blue, Renji disappeared. There was no warning, no indication of anything out of the ordinary, just when Rukia came back from the market, Renji was nowhere to be found in their little makeshift home. The only thing he had left behind was his katana, Zabimaru (which she had named for him since he hardly ever talked). It was all she had left of the only person she cared about. He may not have talked a lot, so conversation was a bit lulling, but his absence (silence and all) really broke Rukia's heart.
One of the few (and last) things he said to her was when they were talking about her joining the Seireitei and becoming a Soul Reaper. He said, "Anything is possible, Rukia. You have no limits. Just because you are from the Rukon District doesn't mean you can't make it. Do what you can or do what you want; how much you put forth is how far you'll go." Rukia thought he'd be with her all the way to the end...
