Harry was watching his best friend at Ron's and Lavender's wedding reception. She was holding little Teddy close to her waving at Ron as he smiled happily at the two of them with his arm around Lavender. She looked beautful in her bridesmaid dress, which was a truly ugly combination of pink and orange - not that they'd tell Lavender that- but she pulled it off well with her long brown hair cascading down in soft curls framed around her face.
They had been through a lot together, from trolls to freeing prisoners, rebelling against teachers and leading one into the forbidden forest, dueling death eaters, hiding from all civilization- even when Ron had gone - she was still always there by his side and he couldn't imagine his life without her.
After the war they couldn't be separated - going through so much together left them scared of being apart which didn't bode too well with Ginny and Ron but it all worked out in the end with that. He helped her find her parents in Australia, she helped him raise Teddy - they were already in a family lifestyle without the romance.
One day he looked at her in a different view than he usually did. Maybe he always knew how he felt, but at that moment it hit him and it all came together.
Andromeda had given the two of them a night off shooing them away telling them to get a life they're teenagers. Seeing Hermione dressed for a night out at the local pub made him realise what everyone was waiting for. He knew she was special, that she was smart and a gorgeous girl no matter what she wore, but seeing her so carefree and happy looking forward to a night out after so much had gone on made his heart flip. That sparkle in her eyes as he took her hand to apparate them away was all he needed to see for the rest of his life.
That night at the end of what felt like the best date he could ever experience, he kissed her. They never looked back.
"You look so beautiful Mrs Potter", he told her walking up to her and wrapping an arm around her and Teddy kissing the side of her head.
"You look dashing too Mr Potter"she told him, "doesn't Daddy look good Teddy" she continued as Teddy gurgled and waved his fist around towards Harry with a cheeky smile on his face.
They kissed with smiles on their faces knowing that despite everything that had happened in the past they would never change a thing because of that moment they shared.
