Author's Note: So here I am again, writing yet another poem when I should be doing my other stories...hehehe. Anyways, I was contacted by one of the Elders at my church. He wanted me to do a piece of work that showed "What the Cross means to me". So I wrote this and presented it on Easter. I hope you guys like it. I had a blast writing it!
To know that I am loved
To know that I am safe
To know that I can live without fear
To know that I can be forgiven
To know that I am saved again and again
To know that He loves me
To know that He died for me
To know that He gives Mercy
To know that He gives out Justice
To know that He is with me at all times
To know that He'll never let me down
To know that He will never hand me more then I can handle
To know that He's coming again
That's what the cross means to me
Living in fear
Living in sorrow
Living in despair
Living in pain
Living in mystery
How you changed that
Living in security
Living in happiness
Living in hope
Living in comfort of mind
Living in peace
That's what the cross means to me
Your beauty is in everything
In all that you have made
Your powers flow through your children
Your chosen ones
Your very spirit lives in me
Lives in those who chose to believe in you
Your light shines through the darkest of nights
Even through hells dark passageways
Your faith is in those who you live in
In those who chose you
Your justice makes right
Makes those who do wrong pay for their wrong
Your Holiness flows through our veins
Through those who died with your Son
Your jealously never wants me to praise another
Who would want to?
Your Wisdom never leaves me in the dark
It is ingrained in my own mind
Your Infiniteness, I will never be able to comprehend
I will never understand for I am just a human
Your Sovereignty is everlasting
None shall surpass you
Your Mercifulness gives me second chances that I do not deserve
Yet I am your child that you care about enough to do so
Your Longsuffering makes you slow to anger and gives out more warnings then we should need
For you long for us to be with you
Your wrath makes those who oppose you shake in fear
For none can defeat you
Your immunity allows you to never change
For you are the same today, yesterday and forever
Your Omniscience allows you to know all
You know the inner most stuff about me that no one else does
Your Omnipresence allows you to be everywhere at the time
You're with me at school and with that scared orphan in Africa
Your Eternalness means that you never were not and you never will be a was
Meaning that you will never die and there was never a time in which you were not
That's what the cross means to me
Being with you till the end of the age
That is what the cross means to me
