Summary: Becker surprises Sarah
Becker honestly didn't know who was more surprised himself or Sarah.
"What did you just say?" she asked, not because she hadn't heard him correctly, but because she never expected him to say it. Reluctantly Becker looked at her, he didn't know what to say to erase the shocked look on her face, they had gotten into an argument and the words had just slipped out.
"I …-"
Sarah's mobile phone rang, and she answered it without taking her eyes off him, she studied his face for any sign that he was serious about what he said, but years of army training had taught him to give nothing away.
"Okay, we'll be right there," she said hanging up. "That was Connor, a new anomaly opened in Hyde Park."

They avoided talking to each other for the rest of the day, not an easy feat when you're trying to coax a giant sloth back through the anomaly. If Abby, Connor and Danny suspected something was wrong they didn't say anything although Becker could've sworn he saw them give each other meaningful looks out of the corner of his eye.

It was night when Becker decided he'd had enough of the silent treatment and went looking for her her.
"We need to talk," he said. Sarah stopped typing but didn't turn around to face him.
"I'm busy," her tone was light and non-committal. Becker took a step inside.
"Sarah,"
"Seriously Becker, not now," she snapped. Becker thought about making her talk to him but then let it go.
"Alright, I'm going home." As his footsteps receded she sighed, wondering what to do.

Sarah got home at 2 am and softly crept up the stairs into the bedroom. As she watched Becker sleep she had a feeling that he was only pretending and considered calling him on it for a split second but let it go. Making a decision she leaned over, kissed his temple and whispered in his ear.
"I love you too."
As she got ready for bed Becker's mouth stretched into a small smile.
