The Religion of Bad Wolf I:

Male Pregnancy

Rated M for mature themes

Jack held in his womb the most precious child he could imagine. He felt like a seahorse—carrying young instead of the female, but this time it was not his.

Rose gave him a gift, a permanent reminder of her. He carried the child she never could—the one who would have died from exposure to the Time Vortex.

He could never see Rose's Doctor again, and if Rose lived, she would never be the same.

oOo

He found another Doctor. He didn't tell him much, only that the TARDIS Jack stayed in malfunctioned, and that he and his pregnant wife vanished.

The Doctor—the last one to call himself such wondered at the marvels of the TARDIS' miracle. Rose's child had been safe.

The Doctor extracted the child from Jack's body. In his grief, he swore he would never call himself Doctor again. He would be the Valeyard.

He saw Rose in the child's face, and it began to kill him one final time. He would not wait for its eyes to open—to see the same blue of his Ninth form. He hated Jack. Jack took his last sweet memory of Rose away.

Any other man he could have forgiven her for, but not Jack.

"Jack." He said only his name.

Jack starred up at him, eyes wide. He had given this Doctor a false name.

"Stop him," Rose's voice demanded in his head.

"Just a shag," The Doctor muttered, barely audible.

Rose showed him an image of the baby frightened and bleeding and this Doctor wailing in confusion.

"It wasn't his," this Doctor screamed. "It was—I'll never forgive myself!"

Jack grabbed one of the surgical tools and stabbed The Doctor in the chest, not caring what organ the tool struck.

He took the child back quickly and prepared to use the last bit of energy from his time travel device. This was one Doctor he did not want to meet again.

"Forgive me, Doctor. Rose showed me what you would do. If only you'd have waited. It's not my child; it's his child. You'll be together forever, I promise."

Jack and the baby faded.

Valeyard understood. Only he should be called The Doctor. No other form was worthy.

Bad Wolf, sweet Bad Wolf, forgive me.
