Here's a drabble for BellaPur's Foreign challenge on The Dark Lord's Most Faithful forum =)

This is actually about a character NOT travellling, but I do hope it fits the prompt well enough, regardless...

The Foreign Challenge.

Harry Potter is pretty British-centric, but we all know there are witches and wizards all over the wee shop we call the world. We see characters from France, Bulgaria, Ireland, Russia, Italy, the Middle East and somewhere that speaks German. So my challenge for you is to write a 100/500 word drabbles (haven't had that word count in a long while!) based around another country. This can be a character from a foreign country like Fleur, Gregorovitch or those witches from the Salem Witches Institute. Or be less obvious; have a British character going on holiday or learning a language. Whatever takes your fancy, just so long as it includes some foreign culture in there =D

Quiet.

A peaceful house, a peaceful home. Family. Feelings, responsibilities...

The clock ticks, impassive – the sound off – too fast. His mother liked this clock – once. But the harmony's broken. (Shattered.) The hands tick, tick, tick – time passes him by.

(He thinks of setting suns, wind on his face, flashes of light – and impending doom. He whispers foreign words in the shelter of his distressed, brilliant mind, symphonies matching his frantic heartbeat.)

The world awaits, the world awaits. Heavens, the world

And then a scream – shrill, sharp, familiar – anchors him to this world.

(and he, too, tastes madness on his tongue)
