Seamus was my first ever favorite character. :) So, here's a tribute to one of our favorite minor characters.
Seamus Finnigan was generally likeable. He got along with almost everybody, though he really didn't know why. It was more of a…he pretended to like people when he really didn't. Seamus Finnigan was a good actor.
Hell, he even got along with Harry Potter, and the kid was certifiably crazy. He didn't see a problem with it; he'd known Harry for years and no harm had ever come to him.
His mother, however, was a different story.
"So…Seamus, I've been thinking," she said, looking at him over a bowl of cookie dough. It was a hot, summer day, a day that you just wanted to stay inside, eating whatever came close to you. It was days like this that the Finnigans spent together, eating extremely unhealthy foods.
"Hm?" Seamus asked, glancing up quickly. Damn. She had a serious expression on her face, which wasn't something she usually wore.
"I don't think you should go back to Hogwarts."
"What?" Seamus exclaimed, eyes widening. Not go back to Hogwarts? What was she thinking? Was she crazy?
"The headmaster's crazy, he says Y-You-Know-Who's back, you're roommates with Potter…" she trailed off.
"I'm going back to Hogwarts," Seamus said. He glanced at the freshly delivered Daily Prophet. The front page was an article about the dangers of going to Hogwarts.
Of course everything was against him.
"I felt bad about not letting you go back, but…you might get hurt. I'm sure we could find a place for you at another wizarding school, or you could even go that school for Muggles."
Seamus shook his head. "If you won't let me go, I'll just go on my own. Find a different way to get to the platform, or something."
She sighed, and seemed to age before his eyes. "Fine, then. Just…that Potter boy…don't trust him, okay?"
Seamus hesitated. Harry was his friend. But…he kind of wanted to go to Hogwarts more. After all, there were other kids at Hogwarts. Dean, and other houses. "Yeah, okay."
