"Good morning, Rose."
"Ah, Mr-Mr. President!"
The sound of a door opening. Then...
"Mr. President, is it true?"
"Are aliens really gray?"
"Why do you call it Stargate?"
"Did you step through, Mr. President?"
The door is closed, quickly and forcefully.
Silence.
"Rose?"
Paper crinkles and feet shift from side to side.
"Yes, Mr. President?"
"Care to explain why there is half the world's journalists sitting in my office?"
"Well, you see...there was an incident at the Pentagon early this morning and..." Her voice trails off and Rose looks quite helpless at her boss, wringing her hands and the poor morning paper.
The president rubs a hand over his face and pinches the bridge of his nose.
"Let me guess. General O'Neill used the Asgard transporters to beam Colonel Carter from the SGC to his office at the Pentagon. Unsupervised."
"He wasn't-, that is, he tried to-, and then got the Stargate instead-"
An eyebrow is raised and Rose sighs.
"Yes, he did."
Silence reigns again for a few seconds, filled with anticipation. Then...
"Okay, why not," the president finally remarks, grinning from ear to ear and rubbing his hands together, "Let's show them what the fuss is all about."
He steps up to the door but before he turns the handle, he addresses Rose over his shoulder one last time.
"Oh, and Rose?"
"Yes, Mr. President?"
"Bring cookies. It's going to be a long meeting."
The door is opened and the noise level explodes.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please, take a seat. We even have cookies for you." That statement is met with laughter.
"Now, let me tell you a story about a fearless team of explorers, a lost city and a meeting with destiny..."
