Title: Ironic
Couple: Sarah/Becker
Rating:G
It had been eight months since Abby, Connor and Danny had returned after stepping through the future anomaly in search of Helen Cutter. This time the team had followed Helen Cutter through an anomaly which lead to the past and right into the middle of a Gallimimus stampede. With lightning fast reflexes Connor had grabbed Abby and pulled her back through the anomaly while Becker had managed to shove Danny through, however Sarah hadn't moved out of the way fast enough and was clipped by one of the creatures the touch was slight but the force behind it had been enough to sending her spinning away. Without thinking Becker chased after her, narrowly missing being trampled and found her trying to sit up near some rocks looking around disoriented. Before he could ask her if she was okay a bone chilling roar announced the cause of the stampede. Grabbing her arm Becker pulled Sarah into the gap between some nearby rocks. A dinosaur followed the stampede, as he crouched between the rocks Becker assessed it was a carnivore from the size of its teeth, it was smaller than the one that had attacked the air flight crew but still large in it's own right.
"It's a T-Rex," Sarah whispered to him, she had been studying Connor's dinosaur database and where before her dinosaur knowledge had been seriously lacking now she could recognise quite a few of them on sight. They watched as it leant down and grabbed on of the stragglers between its teeth and carried it off while it shrieked. Sarah shuddered, "let's get out of here." Cautiously Becker stood, scanning the area for any other creatures. "Becker where's the anomaly?"
Becker got a really bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, looking in the direction they came from he didn't see anything glimmering in the sunlight.
"Do you have the detector?" he asked. Sarah pulled it out of her jacket pocket and handed it to him. He looked at it in dismay.
"What's wrong?" She asked, he showed her the screen - it was flickering on and off not staying long enough to give them any decent readings. "It must have been damaged when I fell." She looked at him hopefully, "Can you fix it?"
"I can give it a try," he said refusing to make any promises, he did have some tech knowledge but it was basic, silently he hoped the damage was only superficial.
"Two," Sarah muttered to herself.
"What?" Becker asked wondering if she had hit her head.
"They say bad things happen in threes," she explained, "One - the anomaly closed trapping us on the other side, two our anomaly detector isn't working properly I was just wondering what the third thing is,"
"What about that Galapagos thing bumping into you?"
"Gallimimus." She corrected him, and then shook her head "I'm only counting it if it happens to both of us"
They heard another roar, but they couldn't be sure if it was moving away from them or towards them.
"Well I hope there isn't a third," Becker replied, "We better find a cave or something nearby we can stay in." He handed the anomaly detector back to her. "Are you okay to move?"
"Yeah, I think so," she answered slowly getting up.
As they climbed out of the rocks Becker realised that it was a year to the day that Abby, Connor and Danny had gone missing on the other side of an anomaly. Now it seemed it was their turn. "This is definitely ironic," he couldn't help thinking to himself
