Shield Skull
By Unknown Author
Shield Skull is an old Nordic poem written in the second era during the interregnum when Molag Bal was attempting to merge Coldharbour with Nirn.
It is about the reviled daedra, the clannfear. These beasts would come through the dark anchors placed by Molag Bal and spread across the land terrorizing any and all
villages they came across. This poem was likely written in order to deter young Nordic boys from seeking out the monsters in order to establish themselves as warriors
and protectors of their respective village.
Beware my child, oh beware.
For you have stumbled into its lair.
Its breath is hot, its eyes are peeled.
Its claws are daggers, its skull, a shield.
You cannot run, you cannot fight.
The gods pity you and your plight.
Beware my child, oh beware.
Can you not feel its wretched glare?
Draw sword and make peace with your fate.
Through Shor you will reach your final state.
To Sovngard, my child, you go.
And trust that those you love will know.
That you died with courage in your heart.
As the beast rips your body apart.
