A/N:Becker visits Sarah in hospital
Becker couldn't help feeling nervous as he made his way through the ARC's recovery ward to Sarah's bed. He spotted her before she saw him, and he was relieved to see her sitting up in bed, her right ankle in a bandage.
Earlier that day an anomaly had appeared in a park and the team had split up to search the area for any creatures that may have come through. Sarah had joined Becker's group despite his protests and it had turned out to be a good idea. He had his back turned to a group of trees when the creature, a Velociraptor, had decided to strike, it jumped out from between the trees and Sarah, being closest to Becker, had instinctively pushed him out of the way but as she pulled back she stumbled and fell awkwardly, twisting her ankle and hitting her head but Becker's team had managed to tranquilise the raptor before it took advantage of the situation.
As he got nearer to her bed Becker tried to think of something to say that didn't sound like a cliché.
"You're an idiot."
Sarah looked up from the open file on her lap. "Your gratitude is overwhelming." She said with a smirk, Becker thought she seemed pleased to see him as he sat down.
"This isn't funny. You're supposed to be resting and instead you're here doing work."
"I take it the 'thank you for saving my life,' is implied?" Sarah responded, closing the file and putting it on her bedside table.
"You shouldn't have done that."
"I saw you in danger and I reacted."
"It could have killed you."
"It could have killed you too."
Becker gritted his teeth, "you can really be a stubborn b-"
"It's a pity you didn't become a doctor, you have such a lovely bedside manner."
Becker took a deep breath, he didn't want this to turn into a fight, "You took a huge risk pushing me out of the way like that, if you had been a second slower getting yourself out of the way it would have landed on you. All you had to do was yell at me to duck, run, dive or any other verb that would have made me move out of the creature's way, you're too important to the team to lose."
"You're important too," she insisted, making Becker wonder if there was something else she was trying to say, "to everyone," she added lamely.
A nurse approached him. "Captain Becker, Connor Temple left a message for you, another anomaly has opened."
"Thank you," Becker said, getting up.
"Business as usual then," Sarah said, trying and failing to sound cheerful.
Seeing Sarah looking so miserable, he felt a bit sorry for her so on an impulse he leant over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He couldn't help smiling at her surprised expression.
"Thank you for saving my life, Sarah."
She gave him a small smile in return. "Any time."
