"There is something we all search for. May it be love, or power, or adventure, or the pure and simple pursuit of happiness... we all are searching for something. And we surround ourselves with other people to try and find it; may these people be tutors, esteemed colleagues, or just a means to an end... there a thousand different roles a person can play in your search. In my case, this role is friendship; this role is Poke'mon.
I am Salazar... a trainer. No, not the regular trainer. You know when you see a shady character walk into a bar, tricked out in a cape or scarf or a suede suit? They look like fools, but there is a certain air of superiority to them. They stand alone, never talking to anyone, sitting alone with their drink... yet they are always with people. Their Poke'mon. They are always with the companions they have had for years; the years necessary to achieve their level of skill. They have melded into one with their Poke'mon; they all think as if one single being. That is how close they are.
These are not your regular trainer... they are less, and more. "How does that work?", you may ask. I reply: there is a certain point to anything, where you just have no where left to go. The unity with you and your companions is so strong you are practically one being, and there is no or very little room for improvement. You've steamrolled every champion in your path, taken an uncountable amount of titles, badges and rewards. And then you are nobody. There is just nowhere higher to climb; and you haven't found your answer. You become nobody; a hobo. No title. No job. Nowhere left to go.
I am one of those people... or rather we are one of those people; me and my Poke'mon. My type of person is searching for something. We wander, trying to fulfill this something with our companions. But we never fully achieve it; we just search for more and more adventure, more and more justice to shell out, more and more laws to break in favor of our personal views.
Then there is the other kind of person.
Hardworking, industrious, yet humble. They just want to support themselves and live a happy life; they just search for love or happiness, instead of some ultimate truth, like my kind of person does. And they will probably achieve it to a larger extent than my kind; they will probably live a full life with the healthcare they've been provided by their job, and then die relatively happily by natural causes.
You probably think this is a wiser, more sustainable way to live... and I agree with you. So why don't I live that waY? Quite simply, I cannot live that way. I am a Poke'mon Trainer. I cannot change that. That is just who I am. If you go against who you are, even if it seems like a good idea, you won't be able to get closer to what you're looking for... although, you'll never find it ultimately, regardless"
